How do you adjust the timing on a 96 kia sportage

you have to turn the cams to designated notches. left side is intake so the I should be straight up at 12 o'clock. the right side is the exhaust so the E should be straight up at 12 o'clock. try looking for timing mark pictures for the crankshaft

I need to raplace the timing belt on a kia sportage. the belt was broke and the timing is lost. i just want to know the position of the marks on the camshafts inteke and exaust.

look at the cam sprokets they should have an I and an E stamped on them then by the gear they should have a notch. the back timing cover will have a V symbol. then match them up the cam close to the intake side will have the I mark up and the cam on the exhaust side will have the E up.

Need timing marks and ignition wiring digram on 2.0 dohc 99 Kia sportage

I can help with your timing marks.
the bottom pulley on your timing belt has a **** grove on the back part of the pulley on the seal plate behind pulley should be a mark or a triangle align those two marks
for the camshaft pulleys there should be an "l" marking on the left pulley for intake and an "E" marking for the right for exhaust side allingn each marking to the grove just above the pulleys on the seal plate directly behind the pulleys

install timing belt and make sure it isnt loose on tension side which is the right side of belt if reusing old belt make sure you have marked belt on which way belt is turning

loosen tensioner lock bolt turn crankshaft two complete revolutions in direction of rotation

make sure that marks are correctly aligned still if not start back to step one.

if ok turn crankshaft to align "S" mark of right pulley or the exhaust pulley to same mark on seal plate directly behind pulley

good luck and god speed let me know how it went

Timing belt diagram 1997 kia sportage 4x4

My scanner isnt working, so i hope this can help you out some...On the left Camshaft..you will a stamp I and E...iI is for intake and E is for exhaust..The I should be up at 12 o'clock and the E should be at 4..you will also have marks on the timing plate behind the camshafts to help you line it up right...Now on the Right Camshaft you will have the same marks, but this time you want the E at 12 and the I at 7 o'clock..And the crankshaft should have a little notch on it, where you can line that up at 12 o'clock with the notch imprint that is on the plate for you..You may have to clean those areas, and use a light, so you can see them..I hope this helps you out..Goodluck...

Timing belt marking

The timing marks are just above the cams at the "twelve o'clock position"

If necessary, align the timing marks.
NOTE When aligning the cam pulleys with the seal plate marks, align the left cam pulley “I” mark and the right cam pulley on the “E” mark.

WARNING When aligning the timing marks, do not turn the timing gear counterclockwise. Damage to the engine will occur.
