Question about 1999 BMW 323 Series

I have a 2000 BMW 323i. The key FOB will not

I have a 2000 BMW 323i. The key FOB will not unlock the car. For a few days, the problem was intermettent. However, at this point, neither the FOB nor the lock/unlock push-button will work. I can, fortunately, unlock the driver door with the key. Is there a possible solution besides replacing the control module. (I have the diamond shaped FOB with no indication of a battery compartment.)

If the key will still unlock the central locking when you use it as a normal key in the lock in the drivers door then I would say the battery is dead.

Normally a good indication that the battery is getting low is that you
have to get nearer to the car before it works.

If you can change it before it goes dead. Open the key fob so you can see the
battery, Lay on table, Remove battery from packaging, Lay down on table
    correct way up.

Important is that when you remove the battery from the fob is that you
normally have 30 Seconds to replace the battery. (Or have to rematch the
    key
    to the remote system).

First, thanks for your prompt response. Second, I'm not sure how to open the FOB. It doesn't look like it is designed to open. Do I literally just pry it open where it looks like the "seam" is? In case there is no info on the battery itself, do you happen to know what type of battery I'll need to buy?

I dont have much experience on what battery to buy . Yes you can just pry it of.. But apply little pressure be careful not to break it up.

Unlock drivers side door when key won't work

All BNW's have remote key openers built into key, so what doesn't work, the manual lock, or the remote key, or both. When you say you don't have keyless entry, on a BMW the remote is the key.

What is an fob on a 2000 bmw 528i?

The fob is the Key (generally referred to as a "Key Fob"). The Key plus the door unlock functionality built into the key became known as a key fob, as apposed to just a key. Hope that helps.

2000 BMW 323I WONT UNLOCK WITH THE KEY OR KEY FOB, ANY IDEAS?

I had same problem. Driver door would lock/unlock with key in keyhole in door, but not with fob, and other doors would not lock/unlock. Even once inside none of the doors would lock/unlock with lock switch, or even by pulling handles. Mechanic (very trustworthy) explained I needed a new control module (cost me $600). Good Luck. $600 is better than having to roll down the windows so Grandma can Luke Duke it outta the car.

Hi i have a bmw 320ci 2001 and sometimes when i get in and turn ignition on it wont start. i've found the only way to make it start is by pressing the lock and unlock button a few times. hope you can help....

Have you ever changed the battery in the key fob? Next time you go to start it unlock it by using the key in the drivers door lock turn to the unlock position and hold there your windows will lower and sunroof will open. Get in and start car if you do not have to lock/unlock to start change the fob battery if you do need the lock/unlock move your chip in your key is bad

Hi i locked my bmw 323i with key pad now it wont

the BMW is complicated since i had a similar problem with mine. the keypad is connected partly to the ECM and the TDS. the connector to the keypad partially gets corroded over time and wont send the correct signal to disable the alarm. Check the connection first. if it is fine. disconnect the power to the battery for 5 minutes to let the TDS reset and try again. if it fails then chances are the key pad is faulty
