SOURCE: where is the starter for a 2000 suzuki grand vitara located

starters are normally located at the rear of the motor usually hard to get too or see. should be on your bell housing in other words just in front of the gearbox/clutch

SOURCE: do I need a brake

You can do it either way. If the drums are worn you may have to also access the self adjusters and back the linings off. There ususlly is a slot on the brake retaining plate to unscrew the self adjusters.

Where is the starter located on a 2008 Suzuki Grand Vitara?

one of the hardest starters to remove
only held on by two bolts but not enough room to remove it
without taking a lot of parts off

will be best to buy a 2006-2014 vitara repair manual

see if the exhaust manifold removal makes it possible
or the engine mount bracket

this is the 2008 starter

I Have a 2006 suzuki grand vitara, the front crankshaft seal is leaking. I was wondering why is the job suppose to be 10.8 hours (info from motoralldata). I cant just take out the crank pulley and the seal...

Yes, you can use a seal puller to get the seal out. Not sure how much room you have to put the new one in though. You need to line it up carefully and use a large socket on it to hit it with a hammer. If there is not room to swing the hammer, you may need to take the timing cover off. The labor the shop is quoting probably includes removing the cover.
