Question about 2001 Ford Explorer Sport Trac

1 Answer

The AC stops blowing out the vents and switches to the defrosters when I accelerate or start up an incline and need to apply a little gas pedal. I have switched out the dash panel controls for the heat and air and vent system with one that I know works correctly but it still does the switch to defrost. Is there a specific place on the truck where there would be a leak of the vaccum??

There should be a one way check valve in the vac line at the intake. If this is bad it will do this.

1995 S-10, when going uphill or accelerating my AC blows out the defrosters when backing off it comes out the vents again

It is almost certainly due the drop in manifold vacuum when climbing hills or accelerating. Back in my youth windshield wipers stopped when you stepped on the gas.

AC/Heater blower fan stops blowing air into the cabin when I accelerate.

Usually a vac leak. I would check for a leak in the HVAC control system and the line thru the firewall to the engine.

Ac vacuum

There could be a vac tank problem or a vac leak.
Most american vehicles use a plastic ball or object as a vac holding tank. The tank or a vac hose can be leaking.
If the system fails, the default position is the defrosters for safety.

Air conditioner blows out defrost vents when acceleration.

In f150 truck there is a small vacum hose passenger side up by the windshield. It's a small hose check really good they dry rot and it will cause your vents to switch. Also if your box is bad. It's next to the battery

Air stops blowing through the vents when accelerating

u have a loss of vacuum to the ac mode control switch, this switch applies vacuum to diff vacuum motors to move air to diff outlets, dash, floor, defrost etc. either the vacuum line or vacuum resivior at the engine is leaking or the mode control is leaking vacuum.

A/c dies when accelerating

if you are losing it blowing out of vents then it is losing vacuum and going to defrost. this would be caused by a broken vacuum line to the vacuum resevoir

1886 Dodge Ram 1500 Club Cab V8 (318) Vaccum Leak

I experienced almost the exact same thing in a customer's 1997 Dodge Caravan this week except on this one,the A/C would be blowing cold out of the vents, directly at you,and when you put the accellerator down pretty hard, the vents would cease to blow, but you could hear the defroster door flap, and the defrosters blew cold air.Let off the gas pedal,it switches back the way it originally was.Wasn't the customer's complaint, but it did make me wonder.
