Well you can, but the engine may not run at normal temp. The thermostat makes the engine warm up quickly which helps emissions and performance. The longer it takes, the more gas it burns.

Ck engine lt on. p0128?

p0128 is coolant tempurature below thermostat regulating tempurature, the most likely problem is to replace thermostat. also be sure coolant is at proper level. if still problems, replace coolant tempurature sensor.

What would make my 96 neon shut down when it gets hot

ignition control modules exercise the same symptoms when they are going bad, i would have to say that is your problem. if not check the fuel pump relay, it may be getting hot and shutting down. car shuts off when it gets to normal tempurature. causes; low coolant level, failing coolant tempurature sensor, air in water pump,failed radiator fan, or a kinked heater hose.

I have a 1997 Kia Sportage (#KNAJA5278VA787759). The automatic transmission used to not shift into overdrive at 60 km/hr, but only after the engine was warm--after about 5 km of driving. The problem...

I had a simular problem.
Ended up changing the themastat and the gears changed into overdrive when the temp. got to normal running.
Be carefull that you get right thermastat though. You want one that reaches the normal working Temp as soon as possable.

1998 F150 Hard to start when hot. Have to crank engine for 30 seconds. Runs ok after starting. Check engine says it is running lean. Starts ok when cold.

I have the same problem with my F150 4.6. Long cranking when out door tempurature is hot. Engine temp gauge indicates normal engine tempurature. Looking for solution.

you will probably need to replace the tempurature sensor it's self the car is not actually getting hot.

How to change the themastat

You follow the big hose from the bottom of the radiator and when it gets to the engine block you will see a domed shaped object with two or three bolts in it , that is the thermostat

My 2008 H3 tempurature gage runs about 3/4. Dealer says it's normal is that correct

Normally most cars 1/2, just to make sure....Replace thermostat.

I would say it is at the top radiator hose where it connects to the engine. Should be a small part with two bolts on it connected to the engine with the hose connected to it.Take the two bolts out and the thermostat is under it
