(1993 Buick Centry 6 cyl automatic) I have been told there is an electronic module in or on the transmission, If bad will cause it to slip periodically as the car is doing-is this an easy fix that i can do myself, If so may i please have a diagram or picture to see the location of the part and the proper name so i can get one? I would recommend replacing the Vacuum modulator first. It will look like this and is mounted on the side of the trans.

No the fluid or filter has not been changed.the car only does this periodically and only when you have come to a complete stop then you put in neutral then back in drive and all is well until the next would the filter and fluid do this?

Since your vehicle is a 1993, and I am not sure of the total miles, I would recommend the simple procedure of changing the filter and fluid. This is a normal procedure that is often neglected, but yet,is an important maintence procedure. It should or has to be done anyway, and until then, I would have a hard time telling you to replace a component and still have the same problem. Just a thought.

I just got a 2004 tiburon 6 speed 4 cyl why is it when i shift when pressing on the gas the rmps go up but dont pick up speed ??? help

This is bad news either way, whether you have a manual or automatic transmission. The transmission is slipping if it an automatic or your clutch is worn out if it is a manual transmission.
Assuming you have an automatic, is may be the transmission is slipping because the transmission is not quickly shifting gears.

If you transmission shifts using hydraulic valves, there may be hope. You can add a can of SeaFoam transmission oil or similar product that helps stuck valves move. If you have solenoids used to shift the transmission based on motor RPM and pressure sensors, you need to go to a transmission shop to run more complicated tests. In that case, go to someone who is familiar with your vehicle model.

Can the transmission from a 1991 Buick century 6 cyl be used to replace the bad transmission in a 1995 century 3.1? The 1995 has a 4spd auto. Or, worst case, would the engine and trans swap from the...

No the 95 is a 4T60E transmission. It's electronically controlled via the ecm on your vehicle. The 91 is a TH440T4.and is not electronically controlled. Transmissions are wired different and will not work correctly due to the ecm controller. Ther are plenty of 4t60e trannys. in the salvage yard as they are used in many larger gm vehicles.

I have a 1995 Buick Century 6 cyl. The transmission shifts smoothly and into 4th gear but when I get to about 55 mph it shifts back into 3rd gear by itself and won't go back into 4th gear. What is...

Fourth gear in your vehicle doesn't exist. What feels like a fourth gear is the torque converter locking up. The lockup lockup is controlled by a solenoid in the side pan of the transmission, and the solenoid is controlled by the ECM (electronic control module) in response to several pressure, temperature and speed sensors etc. To determine which component is the problem you'll need a professional transmission mechanic with the proper diagnostic equipment.

I have a 93 buick centry it will go into 1st 2nd and reverse but will not go into 3rd I had some problems with it shifting into 3rd but just went out

Unless you are knowledgeable in diagnosing internal transmission problems, it is impossible to help you over the internet. Take the vehicle to a knowledgeable transmission shop and be prepared to spend a good amount of money.

Miss not engine related in 1993 buick regal, 3.1 v6

Possibly Igniton Check the sparkpug wires for excessive resistance with an Ohmmeter at each end, spec is no more than 1000 ohms per inch of wire, as well as checking the connections... the coils from tower to tower on each coil should measure between 5000 to 7000 Ohms resistance, any more than 7000 the coil is scrap..if a coil is bad it will knock out 2 cyls and it will be a 4 cyl engine instead of 6...LOL

If this miss is at Idle only try tapping on the EGR valve sometimes they stick or have a piece of carbon holding the valve open causing miss like symptoms .... Hope this helps good luck
