The crank sensor will be located on the back of that engine. By the starter. YouTube has a cool video about it.

Location of crank sensor on 1997 lesabre

The crank sensor should be on the passenger side of the engine. It probably won't be visible without first removing the power steering reservoir, and possibly other items on that side of the engine. It is located down below near the waterpump pulley.

you put in a new battery and it just keeps cranking? ensure that it is getting fuel check/change the fuel a filter also i usually take out the first spark plug and hold a screw driver to the tip while its out to make sure its getting spark. When a car doesnt start you first decipher if it is getting enough power then remember that a car basics are air, fuel, spark, make sure its getting all these and that will help you decipher your problem. You can also go and get the OBD II codes at most local auto parts stores for free. At which point you can decipher the problem.

Thanks,
Nate
