May want to check the bulbs on the trailer to ensure the connections are solid and the wiring is in tack. May be a weak ground wire connection.

My tail lights don't work but my turn signals and brake lights work. when i hook up to my trailer and turn the lights on all the trailer lights work but still no truck tail lights

the tail lights are the same bulb but they use a different filament in the bulb.you may need to replace the bulbs.another possibility is there maybe a problem with the wiring for the tail lights between the socket and the area where the trailer wiring is connected to the truck wiring.try the bulbs first, you just have to try one first to see it it works or not then you will know what to do next.

Reverse lights don't work

If obvious have been checked aka bulbs not being burnt out.
Check as well your bulbs in the HIGH MOUNT brake light.
All your lights even though seperate run on some of the same curcuits to the signal switch up front.
If there are no problems with the brake light I would then suggest looking at your trailer wiring if your truck is equipped with it. I had a problem with my turn signals and it ended up being my trailer wiring.
As well yours as mine did has a curcuit board on the tail light.
Maybe your local GM dealer will let you borrow a new one to see if that solves the problem.
I work at one so they let me do that.

I have a 1997 Aerostar and would like to wire for trailer lights. I opened the panel on the left side just in front of the tail lights and found a couple wiring receptacles. Are these for trailer...

if they have color coded wires that are brown, green, yellow and black then its possible.but i don`t think so.you can buy a trailer wire adapter that just plugs into the car factory wiring so you don`t have to splice(solder) the wires into the car wiring and it will show you the area for the connection and picture.if you don`t want to go that route then the tail light wires colors are brown.the left signal color is yellow and the right is green and the ground wire on the car is black but on the trailer wire harness it is white.

is trailer lite fixture grounded good try and wiggle fixture when u hit signal. next try wiggle pig tail on trailer , still no signal. it must be wire from truck, trace back to connection and check all splices. to see if signal light works on trailer unhook pigtail and get a battery charger or another battery, connect a jumper from positive side to signal spot on trailer hook up. hook up ground as well see if light works if not its in the truck for sure.

Now power to the trailor hook up on back bumper, fuses are O.k. wiring apears to be o.k. it is dodge ram 1500 4x 4 single cab c/w 4.7 8cly. be nice to get a wiring diagram. thanks Wayne

you will need to check the wiring under the bumper where the trailer wiring is with a test light and with the different lights working.you will probably have to move back in the wiring by 6" and retest until you find were the loss of power is.you don`t say if all the lights don`t work or just certain ones.the brown wire is the tail light, green is the right signal light, yellow is the left signal light and white is the ground wire.you could have broken wires at the trailer hook up itself.

Dash lights and tail lights wort work

Check your fuses. Dash lights and tail lights are on the same fuse. Check the fuses electrically, just looking at them is not enough. Replace any blown or damaged fuses with fuses of the same rating, NEVER use a fuse of a higher rating. If the fuse blows again, you have a short circuit to ground. Check all the front and tail lamps and their wiring and don't forget the trailer connector if you have one fitted..

I installed a 4 wire trailer wiring harness on a utility trailer. Now when I try the left or right turn signal, both of the tail lights blink on the trailer. What could the problem be?

You have both signal lights interconnected. Disconnect it, and make sure that the two wires is allocated for each side. Then, connect the two wires to the right signal light of your truck. One for the ground, and the other wire for right signal lightbulb. Then, repeat the process for the left signal light. Use male and female connector, for easy disengagement
of your truck and the trailer.
