Do u have to pull engine and Trans on 2002 Honda civic to replace engine?

No you don't if it's automatic. If it's a stick shift you can as well it's easier to pull the trans and motor together

I have a bearing issue with my 97 honda civic cx 5spd when i went to the repair shop he said they would replace all the bearings as he had bearings kiits for my honda is this statement correct? and if so...

I assume you are talking about the trans bearings? Ususally when th ebearings are bad, 4th gear is quiet because there isnr any load on them . I would advise replacing ALL bearings. Is the trans apart? there may be more problems once the trans is apart and you may consider a used trans.

How do I check automatic trans fluid in a 1997 Honda Civic? In the past I've always check fluid with the car idleing in park at normal operating temperature. But the Honda dealer is telling me to check it...

That's because you don't understand how a Honda trans works. Think of it as an automatic manual trans, that is Honda's trans are the only one's where all the gears are constantly meshed. When a Honda trans shifts, it engages that specific gear. All the gears are meshed, a Honda trans engages a clutch pack which gives power through that specific meshed gear, just as you would if you were shifting a manual trans. Now since all the gears are constanly meshed, they are inmersed in trans fluid, If you check it while it is running, It will show less, plus the fact on some Honda models the gears are right next to the dip stick and if your not careful, the dip stick can get pulled into the gears and destroy the trans.

2005 honda civic ex engine light and trans want swift to last ge

It is possible that the emission problem that triggered the check engine light has something to do with the car not shifting into high gear. You need to have the honda scanned for codes to see what exactly is wrong, correct the problem, and see if the transmission issues clear up after the fix. Parts stores offer a free check of engine codes, and can explain what they mean and offer ideas on how to fix the problem. If after getting the codes you still have questions, post them here with the code #'s.

Shift lever is loose and will not go into gear

If it is an Automatic, there is only one cable that goes to the transmission. If it is a manual, there should be two. You will have to disconnect the cable from under the hood, and see if the levers are loose there. If they are, it might be as simple as tightening them back down. If not, the trans may need a rebuild.

97 civic engine

it easier pulling the whole assembly together and lifting the vehicle off of it. just unplug wire harness coolant hoses remove radiator and keep the a/c system closed by just taking condennsor and laying it out of the way over the right fender. dis conect the exaust and take the strut mount nuts off it is also easier if you remove the hood this way you have the room to move about and you wont dent or scratch it. disconnect the pressure hoses for your rack and pinion as well you should be able to then lift the car off of the assembly after you take out the (4) carriage bolts note.........make sure you disconnect the rack from mthe uni body and the steering knucke as well. now with the vehicle out of the way you can disconnect the motor from the trans with out much problem........please rate this
