When I turn the key to the start position, no power goes to the starter. If I wait a minute or two and try again, it starts. Weeks will go by before it happen again. It is becoming more frequent. The last time it happened, I noticed the security light was on when the ignition was in the off position. I watched until the light went out and it started . My car is a 95 Buick Lesabre custom. Thanks for any help offered.

Hi I have a 1985 Buick Lesaber. I turn the key and get nothing a few times. Than I turn the key and the dash lights up and it starts. What do you think? Starter? Battery?

My Cadillac cts 04 won't start... Every time I turn the key it won't even turn over... But the light that shows a car with a lock on it blinks what do I do

Sounds like the anti theft system is active m try this process. Turn the key on. Do not attempt to start. Wait 10 minutes. Turn key off. Turn key on. Wit for theft light to go off. Now attempt to start.

1998 s-10 security light

If the security light is hot or flashing when the key is in the on position, most likely the ignition key tumbler housing has failed.

You can try resetting the pass code by turning the ignition switch to the on position (do not crank or start the engine). Leave the key in the on position for 10 minutes. Turn the key to the off position, wait 5 seconds and turn the key to the on position again and leave it on for 10 more minutes. Cycle the key to the off position again for 5 seconds the back on for a final 10 minutes. Once the final 10 minutes is complete, turn to the off position again, wait 5 seconds and now turn the ignition on and to the start position. The pass code has now been reset and it should start. If the reset does not work you will have to change the ignition key tumbler housing that contains the key code resistor.
Good luck

97 Chevrolet Lumina. Won't start. Lights, horn, radio all work. Tried jumpstarting. Still nothing. Tapped starter and it started but cuts right off. Noticed Security light flashing. Checked all...

You have a security issue going on. Try turning the key to the on position and leave it on without trying to start the car. Wait about 10 minutes and the light will stop flashing and come one solid. Then try to start the car. Turn the key to the off position. Wait 60 seconds and then turn the key to the on position. See if the light is still flashing. If it is then try the process again. If it isn't flashing and it is on solid then start your car.

My impala will not crank at all. my battery is charged but when i turn the car to start nothing at all happens.

POSSIBLE CAUSE BATTERY CABLES COULD BE LOOSE OR CORRODED OR BAD GROUND CABLE.YOUR STARTER SOLENOID OR STARTER IS FAULTY.YOUR CAR COULD BE IN THEFT DETERENT MODE.ALSO CHECK IGNITION FUSE TO MAKE SURE THE IGNITION SWITCH IS GETTING POWER.BECAUSE A BAD IGNITION SWITCH WILL CAUSE NO START PROBLEMS.

You may have a starter or ignition switch issue. I would guess starter with just the information you are giving. Of course with electrical problems proper testing needs to be done to condemn expensive parts such as a starter.

97 Malibu. V6-3100. Starter turns engine, but car

I think you may have answered your own question. I would check to see if the fuel pump is turning on when you turn the key on to the run position. You should hear a buzz sound coming from the gas tank. I would start there.

Starter will not engage anti theft light is on it is a 2005 cobalt

I found this on a website try this

1. Put the newly cut Master key into the keyway and turn it to the ON (RUN) position. A "security" indicator
light on the dashboard will stay on for 10 minutes.
2. Within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON (RUN)
position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes (Do not remove the key.)
3. Again, within 1 minute after the indicator light goes off, turn the ignition to "OFF", then return to the ON
(RUN) position. The indicator light again will stay on for 10 minutes. (Do not remove the key.)
4. When the light goes off the third time, the new key is programmed into the computer and will start
the car. Remove the key and then re-insert it into the ignition lock and start the car.
All previously stored codes will be erased. To stop the process at any time, simply remove the key and use
an existing key to start the car.

1999 Buick regal Security light on. Won't start.

I had the same problem with my 95 Lesabre. The owners manual says to take the key out, and wait 3 minutes(until the light goes off). It should fire right up.
