1 Answer

1997 Buick Regal GS Auto starts but won't stay running. Any ideas? Fuel pump runs a couple seconds and then loses pressure.

the fuel pump will only stay running as long as the engine runs or the starter is engaged, that is how it is designed, so that is not the problem. have u run fault code test on the electronic engine control computer?

You have to monitor the fuel pressure, if you find that the pressure drops off as soon as the engine has started you should check the fuel pump resistor located on the frame next to the windshield washer tank. If the resistor is ok see if you can keep the engine running with carb cleaner. If the engine stays running on the carb cleaner try disconnecting the mass air flow sensor and see if the engine continues to run by itself. This is all taking for granted that there is not a security system problem. check if the security light keeps flashing while trying to start.

1997 buick regal gs supercharge starts then shuts off what could be the problem

First thing I would need to know is if you are loosing spark or fuel pressure when the engine stops.
If it is fuel, it could be the engine oil pressure switch. The fuel pump gets power from the pump relay in crank mode, then from the oil pressure switch once the engine starts.

I have a 99 Buick Regal GS, engine will start and run for few seconds then it will die.

I had a similar problem....my 98 regal GS did the same. There is a two stage fuel pump resistor located in the right inner finder. It was corroded and open. The fix requires relocating new resister on firewall. Fix was $165.00 + tax to my mechanic and runs like new now. Hard to diagnose problem per mechanic.

1997 buick regal gs starts but wont stay running. it will start every time but will only stay running for 3-6 seconds.it was running fine then went out to use it 1 day and this problem ,any suggestions...

Your fuel pump ballast resistor is bad if it's a super charged engine. you will find it behind the battery other side of the wall kind of hard to find. it's a large white ceramic rectangle this takes the load from the fuel pump allowing it to run.

98 Buick Regal -engine quits

ok its one of two things you need to check when it cuts off if you have spark or fuel if you lose fuel pressure replace pump it gets hot and makes noise like its running but its not pumping fuel and if you lose spark you need to replace ignition control module has a hair line crack in it and when gets hot the crack expands and loses contact and wala no spark

Buick Regal dying

You have a problem in the fuel pump relay circuit for sure then. I'm betting the relay, but it could be that dropping resistor.

It's probably an alternator, or an alternator fuse.
