Question about 1999 Pontiac Grand Am GT
Hi, in this sort of an accident the kind of plastic that would be damaged would be parts such as the grill the fan housing this is the part that goes around the outside of the fan, also their may have been glass from the indicator lense and head light, now the other parts that may have been damaged would be under neath the front of the car.
Now if you look at the bumper their is usually a plastic skirt running along the bottom of the bumper bt this is not on all models its sort of a spoiler attathed to bottom of the bumper, then under neath the bottom of the egine you will have a big plastic drip tray that covers the bottom of the car from the bumper to the back of the engine, so if you look under neath the front you may see this is broken or missing.
now apart from the bits listed:
bumper spoiler/ or splitter for its proper name
radiator fan surround
drip tray under engine
grill that goes between the bonnet and the bumper.
that list is basically most of the parts that would be plastic, now depending on how much damage was done would depend on anything else being damage such as the air pipe that runs the air into the air intake, this is a plastic pipe coming from the air filter box and it usually goes to a place by the back of the bumper so have a look at the engine and the air filter box and check where the big pipe is going to and check if its damaged.
hopefully i have given you a few things to look for.
the drip tray is only their to stop things damaging the engine such as lumps of wood in the road it basically stops anything stabbing the sump but this is a big square piece of plastic so you would have noticed if this had come off or not.
just have a good look at the grill and the splitter or spoiler at the bottom of the bumper, their may also be plastic missing if you have fog lights on the front bumper these are low in the bumper so check if you have these, how ever the plastic i think your going on about will be the splitter for the bumper.
let me know how you get on or if you need further assistance ok
