It's going to be hard to get to, but can be done, that sensor is your oil sending unit, auto parts will also need to know if it's an oil light or gauge.

I have a 2002 Chevy Cavalier that is leaking oil and gets hot very fast. I replaced the valve cover thinking that was the problem but it turns out that is not it. What else could it be? It leaks reall

it could be a head gasket that is leaking. what you need to do is visually inspect to see where the leak is coming from. you may have to power wash the motor first and drive or run it then check to see where the oil is leaking.

I have a 2002 chevy cavalier and every time i drive it for an extended period of time with the heat on it smells like oil burning; does anybody have any solutions?

These vehs are know for valve cover gaskets leaking. That is the cover on top of your engine.but you will need to look to see if any other oil leaks are on the engine. This is a simple repair.about one hour on valve cover.

1996 cavalier bad oil leak when running

Overfilled is not good but it would have to be very high to cause leak,There are numerous places in rear of engine that could be leaking.could be leaking from rear of intake, the oilpump drive o ring, but most likly leaking from rear main seal that seals at the rear of the crankshaft and the transmission will need to come out to access this seal. you will need to have the oil leak diagnosed to locate the exact spot.

My 2001 chevy cavalier has a oil leak and I can't

You can buy a florescent dye to add to the oil and a light to make the dye really shine.
Clean the engine with "brake clean" from a spray can at the oil leak areas ....then run the engine.
Check for the start location of the leak.
Start with a short run time ....... then longer run time if necessary until the leak(s) show.
With or with out the dye ......this brake cleaning method should help locate the leak(s).

Oil leak locations could be...in order of the most common on your car are........valve cover gasket, oil filter, oil pressure sending unit, drain plug, oil pan gasket, crank pickup sensor, rear seal.

1993 chev. cavalier RS convt. has oil leak somewhere

this being a side mounted 3.1 liter (v6) the front of the engine would be on the right side of the car from the driver's perspective. if the oil is coming from that side cocentrate your pinpointin there, make sure it is not one of the valve cover gaskets and oil is running down from the top (common) and making pinpoiinting the leak difficult because it tends to spreak on its way down. Seals tand to leak more when the engine is running, so you may have to run it while parked for a little while and check for the leak. It may be the crankshaft seal if it is localized to below the crankshaft; Or if it is coming out of the timing cover then it may be the camshaft seal of the lower intake seal. Intake seal leakes are next to valve cover gasket leak the most common on those engine. Update us. Good luck.
