Question about 2003 Kia Rio

1 Answer

Kia Rio cutting off

I have a Kia Rio that is about 7 yrs and recently started giving engine problems since the chk oil light came on even when the oil was good.... i changed the oil unit and after 2 days the light came off but since the light came on the car started cutting off sometimes even while driving. I had the throttle body serviced twice and the units on it and at the back replaced. It started to perform better but sometimes while driving or idling the engine sounds like its going to cut off... like something does not turn over as it should. I am wondering if sometimes the engine is being starved off fuel..... cause once im slowing down/turning a corner it starts to sputter and sometimes it cuts off or it sounds like its going to but then the engine gets powerful again. There are also times when the car cuts off without warning while driving slowly. Please help!!! Also note that i checked the computer and it shows no problem.

Im assuming that changed the oil unit you mean sending unit ? if so could be electric short in the pick tail or worse wiring harness. second there is also possoble vacum leak .third while unit was being replaced something didnt get put back or got knocked loose. created a new problem. most times as thing are going bad they dont register until it is a prolonged problem as it took 2 days for the check engine to go out that also might have been normal. you might also notice while sitting at park when you turn the wheel you will notice ia differance in the idle, if its almost stalling then its probley your idle, needs re set, or your idle controle valve is going bad ,did it get checked or cleaned when they serviced the throttle body. and also could be your mass air flow sensor going bad or need cleaned

Check engine light is on 2002 kia rio

the check engine light comes on to tell you there is a problem with something the computer controls or receives info from. Have the computer scanned for codes. Once you have those codes post them here and I'll be happy to help you further.

How to chang timing belt 2005 Kia Rio

2005 ?? and only 70k ,i dont think it needs changing yet till about 120k depending on your local ambient climate ,if in a hot dry area then 7 yrs old yes change but if in a more temperate climate then it will be good for at least till its 10 yrs old ,modern belts are far superior to older ones from the 90s ,Then entrust it to a mechanic because one slip up can ruin the engine ,i would not recomend this job to a weekend mechanic who needs to ask on here how to do it ,yes i can tell you and its not difficult but the consequences of making a mistake ??

I recently purchased a 2004 Kia Rio. It is in excellent condition. A week ago, before registering it, we had an inspection and oil change done. Everything runs great, there are no problems with this car...

Hi:
I have not heard of an oil change causing a check engine light.

A good plan is to have your Kia scanned, to see what the code is that tripped the check engine light. Most auto parts stores, such as autozone, will do this for free.
Some codes are very simple, such as a loose gas cap.

Once you find out what the code is, you can then make an educated decision on what to do.

Hi there,

If you have your diagnostic codes read from your vehicle's computer, this will determine which circuit and/or component is malfunctioning (or simply not connected).

Your local Kia Dealership can do this for you (20mins) for a small fee.

Cheers,

Check and make sure you dont have a air pocket in the cooling system. I would have you a/c pressure checked to make sure you didnt over pressurize the system.

If the idel is rought or higher than normal you might want to chk. for a broken vacume line or maybe one has come off. It also could be comming from the power steering pump, may want to chk. the fluid in it too.
