Question about 2004 Dodge Ram 1500
HI. The power control module uses the throttle position,barometric pressure, intake air temperature, and engine rpm in order to calculate the predicted mass airflow rate. The PCM compares the predicted mass airflow value to the actual mass airflow value and the speed density calculation in order to verify the proper throttle operation. If the PCM detects that the difference between the actual air flow(MAF) and the speed density calculated air flow is greater than expected, the DTC will be set(P0068).
The necessary actions are to:
1. Inspect the throttle blade for broken, bent, or missing structural parts.
2. Inspect the TP sensor for proper installation. A mis aligned sensor will set this code.
3. Inspect the TAC module connectors for signs of water intrusions. When water infiltrates this module, multiple DTC codes mat be set with no DTC circuit or component conditions found during the diagnostic test.
4. Physically and visually inspect the throttle body assembly and correct any problems that you observe. Manually move the throttle blade form closed to wide open throttle. You should not need to use excessive force when doing this. The throttle blade should move smoothly through the full range and should return slightly to the open position on its own.
5.When the TAC module detects a condition within the TAC system, more than 1 TAC system related code may be set. This is due to the many redundant test that run continuously on this particular system. Locating and repairing one individual condition may correct more than one DTC(code). Disconnecting components during testing may set additional DTC(codes). Keep this in mind when you are reviewing the stored info, or captured info.
