Question about Jeep Wrangler

1 Answer

I have a 2000 wrangler, 4 cyl. Engine blew. I bought a engine out of a 95 wrangler. I swapped out the oil pan and will swap out the manifold if I ever get that far. My problem is I have spent countless hours trying to get the new engine in! I cannot get the engine and the tranny (manual) together. I asked several jeep "experts" and was told a 95 engine will indeed fit in a 2000 once you swap out the oil pan.So my question again is will the 95 motor fit in a 2000? and if so, is there an alignment tool of some sort I can use to get it together?

By now you likely have moved the clutch disc out of position while attempting to put it together. Get a clutch alignment tool from your local parts house and make sure that has not happened.
Generally, if you use two long bolts with the heads removed and a screwdriver slot cut into them (you can also use threaded rod) as alignment pins (install them into the back of the engine into two of the bellhousing bolt holes, one on each side) it will keep the engine and transmission aligned as they come together. It also helps if you turn the crankshaft with a wrench on the front pulley so the transmission splines engage and don't **** into the clutch disc while you are doing that.
As a precaution, I'd also remove the crank position sensor from the bellhousing so it is not damaged during the install.
Only thing I'd be concerned with right now is that you may have bent the center hub on the clutch disc as you were attempting to get it together. If you did, it will need to be replaced.

95 Blazer, and 2000 blazer do they come with the same engine and trans, and will they match up the same wire wise

No. The cylinder heads and intake are different. If you have a 95 and are using a 2000 as a replacement, you will have to change the intake assembly along with the cylinder heads. The transmission from the 95 will have to be modified at the bell housing cover. The oil pan will be different but will still work from the 2000. You will need gaskets for the 95 year if you swap over the heads and intake. Once the heads and intake are swapped, the wiring will be the same

CAN YOU REPLACE A 1995 GEO TRACKER ENGINE WITH A TRACKER ENGINE WITH A CRANK SHAFT SENSOR???

what years? her ill give examples (no 1.8L sports)
in each case keeping original in/exh manifold of origional
this is called, a Long block swap......!
96 to 95 16v ok ( the crank sensor just sets there, doing zip)
96 to 95 8v no go. ( it will run by ECU while have fuel mapping)
95 8v to 96 16v no go ( missing crank sensor and mapping issues)
95v 16v to 96 16v,(missing crank sensor, move it.)

and you can swap any with harness and ecu. and manifolds.

see swaps here

and links to near infintate swap data.

Chevy S-10 upgrade

You need a donor vehicle, or a good junk yard. You will need an engine from a 95 up V6. You will need the complete engine, wiring harness, ECU, and harness. You will need the radiator and motor mounts, You should go ahead with the transmission swap also, being the 4 cyl.trans will be a bit weak for the v6. Look for the 3.4 v6 if you can find one. This swap from a Camaro is a good choice. The engines from the a Comaro are a bit beefier. What ever car you get your engine from, be sure to get as much wiring and all electronics as you can. Now if you do not have any Emissions problems where you live you will not need the ECU's or the wiring to go with them. You can run a carb engine and the swap will be a lot easier. You can get a manifold from Summit and a carb. and have plenty of power then. Good swapping.

Can i drop a 6 cyl. engine in my 1997 jeep wrangler. I have a 4 cyl. and would like a little more power.

Yes, that actually was an option for the jeep. A 4.0 inline 6cyclinder. Should be pretty straigh forward

Jeep engine swap 2000>1997 4.0

engine controls are likely different... Make sure that you retain all old stuff and know where it hooks up. It's easier to change any different sensors etc before you install into vehicle. make sure that accessories on front of engine are the same, and that exhaust exit on pipe is located in the same place. Exhaust manifolds like to crack where pipes are joined together. make sure they are OK before using manifold. Base engine assembly is identical so there shouldn't be any major problems. If new engine has over 150k on it, you may want to change timing chain before using it. (its not mandatory, but you would be surpriseed how many engines, I've seen with fairly worn out chains at that mileage)
Good Luck
