What are the valve lash specs for 2007 Honda Accord V6?

There is a specific procedure for setting valve clearance . I highly recommend getting a repair manual for the correct specs & procedure. The engine must be at TDC with the #1 cylinder on the compression stroke , that will allow you to adjust ONLY certain valves , then you have to turn the engine one turn to TDC again only now #1 will be on the exhaust stroke & the rest of the valves can be adjusted . it's important that you know the difference between the two !

Changing the timing belt on a 1980 honda civic

Hi Sumbreez, The Civic uses a timing belt which requires replacement every hundred thousand kl. I'm not sure if it has a clearance engine, but have a vague memory of the valves being damaged if the belt breaks. If the valve are damaged, it is more than a possibility that the pistons and maybe the con rods will also be damaged. To answer the rebuild question, is one you will need to answer yourself, as that will depend on your global location. If you're in Africa with little cash, rebuild it. If you're in the States with little cash and prepared to do it yourself rebuild it. If you're in the States with little cash and need to have a workshop rebuild it, throw it away. Regards John

Thumping noise in 1990 honda accord? The engine was running very rough and a thumping noise coming from the top end of the engine. I replaced the spark plugs and it cleared up a little but the noise is...

Hi and welcome to Fixya!

As a first course of action I strongly suggest that you take it in to any reputable mechanic and perform a valve clearance check. The clearance may be too far that's why it creates a noise. If that's the case then have a valve clearance adjustment.

You may want to replace the MAF (mass air flow) sensor too. If the MAF is faulty an erratic idle may occur and engine may stall. The MAF is located on the throttle body.

Hope this helps and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

My daughter had the timing belt break on my 1991 Honda Accord while driving on the freeway. What is the probability of valve damage? Should I just junk this car?

its hard to tell, sometimes they would..... but easy to check before hand, take the valve cover off and check valve clearance as if you were going to adjust the valves, if any valves have way too much clearance the valve is bent.. The valve spec is on a decal under the hood.

Has a bad tapping sound coming from the motor

your valve tappet clearance is too big. What you need to do is just to adjust the valve tappet clearance. It is a tedious job and require some basic skill to do it, if you are not sure, leave it to the service centre to do it.

My lifters are getting really loud on my 91 honda accord ex

All you need is to adjust the valve tappet clearance back to the original specification. It is a time consuming effort and require passion to do it. You need to remove the top engine cover, set timing belt to top dead centre then adjust intake & exhaust valve clearance one by one. Rotare the cranckshaft 180 degree and repeat the valve clearance,. I would suggest to leave it to the expert.

Fault code 1870 can you explain how to clear it keeps coming back but trans ops fine

A P1870 code is a General Motors code, and the definition on a scan tool,or diagnostic chart,is "Transmission Component Slipping"I've been rebuilding these units for many years.A slip code can be set in numerous ways, from clutch packs that simply have too much clearance,to a valvebody bore that is so severely worn,it needs reaming, and an oversized valve installed. All are internal problems that have to be addressed with a rebuild, and resetting of all clutch pack clearances, end play clearances, and bushing clearances. What will happen for your car in the near future is,it will start shifting hard, then harder and harder yet, because the computer is trying to overcompensate for the "slip" it is seeing.GM's system of measuring "slip",is shift timing. The vehicle computer monitors how long each upshift takes to complete,in tenths of seconds. If a shift,or multiple shifts start taking 8/10ths,9/10ths,over 1 second,on a consistent basis, the computer will set the P1870 code, illuminate the "check engine" or "srvce engine soon",and will also increase line pressure inside the trans.Whew.
