Question about 2008 Mazda Tribute

Open Question

Dome/interior light I just bought my 2008 Tribute from a used car dealer. It's beautiful and I love it! However, no matter how I've set the interior dome light I cannot figure out how to get it to turn off once I've shut the door and pressed the remote lock. It also stays on while I'm driving so I've just turned it to the "off" position. I would like to have a light inside at night when I'm getting in my car! Hopefully you will have a tip for me! Thanks!

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

SOURCE: dome light stays on

the switch in your door that lets your truck know when the door is open is stuck. It is cheap to replace and it is not hard at all. 30 minutes maybe.

Sounds like the timing unit which automatically turns off your dome lights after a few minutes is working backwards. Probably need a new unit.

SOURCE: Interior dome/map light replacement - 2008 Honda C-RV

You will have to pry off the lens CAREFULLY using a small screwdriver. There are two (or more) little plastic protrusions on each long side of the lens which fit into the casement. Look for very small slots along the side of the lens to insert the blade of the screwdriver. You can ease the casement away from the lens enough to get it to pop out. Re-inserting it is the same, but probably easier.
Gently, give it a try.
Hope this helps you.

Take this to a dealer service centre as there may be a recall for this problem. Anyway this problem has to be dealt with as a matter of urgency so get to a steering specialist shop asap.

Dome light does not come on when door is opened

fuse blown comes to mind 1st but the door plunger in the door jam may only be sticking. look towards the drivers door while setting in the seat, do you see a plunger type button that when pushed by hand, does it go in and out with help? or does it stick? also check interior light and accessories fuse.

Interior light is not on whrn doors open

Did you check the switch next to the interior light on the roof? Honda's have a switch position that turns off the dome light completely, so it won't work when the doors are opened or not shut tightly. There are 3 positions, dome light on all the time, dome light on only when door is opened, or ajar, and dome light off. I must say, I love Honda's, but I find this switch annoying!
