Question about 1988 Chevrolet Camaro

Open Question

Have a 1988 Camaro Base with 5.0 liter. Trunk pull down will not actuate. I replaced the pull down motor gears guides and housing and relay. Still will not work. No click from relay. 16v on Brown & Blue Wire. All grounds complete circuits with test light. All fuses were replaced also regardless if they appeared not to be blown. when using a test light when you touch the brown wire you hear a click from the relay but trunk will still not go down. I am stumped.

SOURCE: 1989 camaro trunk wont close

I'm going to guess that it is electric. If so then you are in luck, otherwise you will have to make a manual adjustment. If it is indeed an electric truck then there is a small place where you can press that will make the "catch" rise back up. It is located around the truck catch. You will have to thumb around for it but it is there. This is something that I've done many, many times. Also if the trunk is electric then make sure that you never slam it. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: 1989 Camaro. Trunk latch will not catch and

Lube it up well & try a screwdriver in latch, the same way it would catch on striker on body and see if it snaps in and holds, if it doesn't, keep lubricating latch and try again until it does. Work key position in lock as well, to make sure it is actually in the latch position & not stuck in open position.When/if it does, and still won't hold closed, then you need to loosen bolts at latch and adjust a little at a time until it does.

SOURCE: the front of the four wheel drive does not work

Bill you might want to check for a vacuum leak, i had the same problem with my truck and it wasn't the actuator was small hole in a vacuum line and as i was changing the lines, i found a little oil in one of the lines that came from the tranmission, i change the vacuum switch and that took care of the problem.

Trunk will not close all the way down on my 1992 buick riveria

These units have a trunk actuator pull down motor that after you close the trunk the actuator pulls the trunk lid down to the closed position,These units failed quite often 90 % of the time the only problem was the $20.00 switch that's sits on to of the actuator, not the $300.00 actuator assembly. this part is easy to replace it has only one screw holding it, and the switch sits right on to of the actuator.

Trunk pull down motor does not work. how do i replace it?

Hello: If the pull down motor case isn't broken, then before replacing the motor I would replace the pull down motor switch, it is black and on the left side of the motor, take note of how the switch is mounted on the motor (the position of the tang on the switch in relation to the actuator. The pull down switch is held on with one screw.

Power decklid won't pull trunk down. Replaced actuator and switch in decklid and the servo in the trunk.. works intermittently

If it works intermittently, you probably have a damaged wire -- my guess would be where the wiring harness goes to the trunk lid. The constant motion of use can damage the wires internally. They still look ok on the outside usually, you'll have to check them electrically (with a meter or test light) The other possibility is damage to the harness that goes to the latch from something moving in the trunk and hitting it. Good luck.

My car is 1988 camaro and with a 5 speed transmission, and the 3rd and 4th gear wont go into gear. seems like it is going in, but makes a noise, and i have all other gears

on the shift forks in that 5 speed are a thin aluminum ridge that fits into the ring that shifts the gear,, if it was shifted hard, this can break off and you wouldn't be able to **** those gears any longer ,, I have had to fix this same problem on one of my friends cars
