It wont go into park, what would make this do that ?

My daughter had this with her new Chev. You needed to push a button on the shifter to get it into park. The instructions were in fine print on the shifter.

Good luck.

I have a 2006 mercury milan. My son came out of work to find the car won't start, there is only a clicking sound when he turns the key. The radio works and the battery is about 3 yrs. old. And the gea

First the battery is drained. This will cause the clicking sound and possibly the shifter not releasing, if the voltage is low enough. The pop noise, not really sure about. Could be a fuse that popped. But a bad fuse wouldn't cause the starter to click. It would turn the engine or you would have nothing.

Gearshift sticks in park 2004 gt mustang 40th annv

Sounds like the interlock is out of adjustment. There is a switch on the brake pedal lever which sends a signal to release the shifter by reading the brake light signal. Often this switch gets hit by the Drivers feet and has either moved or broken. Your shifter will act up if the Ignition switch rod has slipped out of adjustment or if the ignition switch has slipped on its mount on the steering column.

Gear stuck on parking

do you hear a clickung sound everytime you step on the brake pedal?? get into the truck and be very quiet. turn on the key so the dash lights up and turn off all accessories such as radio and heat so its totally quiet in the truck hit the brake pedal and listen for clicking sound coming from shifter area. if no sound is heard at all than your solenoid to release the shifter from park is not working. start with doing the test and post results.

I have a 2005 Chrysler 300, As I shifted the car from park to reverse I heard and felt a pop in the gear shift. The gear shift moves but the car is stuck in low.

Go to the Prindle switch where the cable meets the transmission and check if it has not unhooked. Move the shifter all the way to the Park position and adjust/tighten.

I was coming to a stop sign and I think that I may have ran over a rock or a piece of tree limb and then all of a sudden I heard a really loud pop. It sounded just like a balloon popping. When I got home I...

Check under the car for oil leaks, if there are none then it was what you hit, hitting the bottom of your car. If it still runs fine I wouldn't worry about it

Gear shift

Do you hear a clicking sound coming from the shifter area everytime you hit the brake pedal, while the vehicle is is "P" park position?? There should be a clicking sound right by the shifter. That's the shifter lock solenoid. If that's not clicking you will not get the car out of park. Let me know what you found.
