Hi Alicia,
What you are saying is actually terrible news. The flashing oil light means there is a problem with your oil pressure. It could be just a bad oil pump or possibly a low oil condition as well. The rattling sound you here, combined with the flashing oil light is probably telling you that a rod bearing or two maybe a main bearing has spun which either one of those could cause the blinking oil light as well. My suggestion to you is DON'T DRIVE IT ANY MORE until a mechanic with knowledge of inside engines can look at it. Either way it isn't a cheap problem to fix unless you are married to a mechanic. Sorry for the bad news.

If your connecting rod bearings are bad, you probably have some scoring on the surface of your crankshaft journals as well. If not, a simple replacement of the bearings should be a doable job for a mechanic.

if you think it needs rod bearings, it needs a lot more than that, the engine has to come out and apart. what engine size? its going to be expensive, crankshaft, oil pump, ect. if it has a 2.7 engine they are bad news.

Got a 94 integra this kidd left the oil cap off now it has a real bad knocking i dont think its a rod cause i can turn the motor at the front with a socket what do you think it could be and is it worth it...

Being able to turn the engine just means that it is not seized up yet, but there can still be a spun rod bearing or crank bearing, and the engine will still turn over until it seizes up.

If the engine is full of engine oil and it is making a loud knocking sound, especially from the lower end of the engine (sounds like someone is swinging around a ball peen hammer inside of the engine), then it will most likely be needing a new engine very soon.

when you talking about drop #6 cyc, did you mean you had to replace the piston and the rod its self? if you had to replace piston and the rod, what took place that you had to replace them? did you throw a rod or the rod was knocking so you had to replace it. If you replace #6 piston due to a rod knocking or you threw a rod for the second time i wonder if that mechanic inspected the main crankshaft it self. if you threw a rod or it knocking 90% of the time you probably have damaged your crankshaft by scuffing it. scuffing the main crank will not be the same, it can be a hair line scuff, it will take no time before your crackshaft will start wearing out the new rod bearing. scuffing up a crankshaft without having machine shop turn it to smooth out any scuff or damages, it will eat and chew up the new rod bearing like its no tomorrow and your rod will knock again. keep in mind, sometime crankshaft is too damage or scuff to be turn or repair it must be replace. There is no reason if that mechanics done it correctly, you should not have any problems from the same cyclinder; it tells me he did a horrible job although he may got in too deep into the engine and decide to cut cost without fixing it and went ahead and fix it knowingly he should done a proper job. If you have to keep placing the rod and the piston due to the crankshaft wearing out the rod bearing, it tells me you have a bad crankshaft. its not worth replacing and fixing due to the cost factor. you better off to get a used motor from a junk yard for 800-1000 bucks. Hello, this could be a very big problem. I would first off and check that your oil level is fine. Next, the bearings on your rods or rod bearings may have been "thrown" causing this internal knock and this can be a cataclysmic problem which will lead to engine problems. This knock can also be your valves tapping and this can be from a stuck lifter, to bad valve lash, or a warped camshaft. An engine can also knock from a cooling system problem. Your engine can knock from improper timing which causes pre detonation of a spark. The list can continue from a bad oil pump not supplying oil to your system, to a cooling system failure, to no oil, to bad fouled spark plugs, to a thrown rod bearing, to a bad valve or stuck lifter. So, what does this all mean you may ask. If you do not have a friend who is mechanically savy I would absolutely have this looked at by a professional mechanic. I would first however to check your oil and coolant level before this. By the sound of the noise increasing with an increased load you may have a big problem. I hate being the bearer of bad news but at least you caught the problem now before it came a bigger problem. I hope this fixes your problem and I hope you get the problem fixed!

Engine has a knocking noise when revving

I wish I could tell you its an easy fix,generally a "knock"when the motor revs indicates a bad rod bearing.I would reccomend having a qualified mechanic check this a soon as possible,if there is a bad rod bearing and you continue to run the motor it will damage the crankshaft beyond repair.

Bad Rod?

you can fix it. you shouldn't drive the car anymore to prevent damaging other parts. it sounds like a spun bearing, which is cause when the bearing doesn't recieve enough oil. the bearings are usually in a fixed position with the crankshaft rotating between them. the knocking noise is from the bearing wearing down from lack of oil, and they start rotating with the crank.

it might not be worth fixing because the cost of fixing it may be more than what the car is worth.
