Cant find low pressure cut off switch on my grand am

Im charging up the a/c but cant find the accumulator so i cant find the low pressure cut off switch. Do you know where it is located?

Air conditioner compressor won't come on to accept freon charge


unplug the clutch cycling switch its on the accumulator jumper the the wire plug ccs also works as low pressure switch and will cut off a/c comp when system is low on freon you may also need to disconnect negative cable from battery for appx 10 minutes leave jumper until system charged then remove it plug connector into ccs (clutch cycling switch ) on accumulator if properly charged system should cycle on and off

1994 chevy G20 van, ac not engageing, freon charge correct, if you bypass plug at accumulator it will engage. van has both front and back ac.


either the refrigerant is low, or the low pressure cut out switch( the one you are jumping out) is bad. The switch is cheap, and just screws onto the schrader valve on the accumulator, so you will not loose the charge when yo change it.

Charged a/c system no leaks compressor would not kick on held 30 minute vaccuum checked for leaks replaced condensor due to hitting a coon could not find low pressure switch to jump to kick compressor on


turn ac on with engine running check for power at the compressor if there isnt check for power at the low pressure switch if there is jump out the connection
the compressor should turn on the low pressure switch is usually located on the accumulator canister (SILVERY CANISTER) near the firewall.

Have a 2003 stratus with intermittent A/C works great when on, where is the pressure sensor located?, that may be problem


On this Chrysler product they have an A/C Transducer located on the high pressure hose. The switch has three wires. They also have a thermo sensor located at the evaporator case behind the glove compartment. These two things are the only ones thatA jump in the system is only removing protection the system has. So it will damage your compressor or hoses. Find the compressor follow the high hose to the high pressure switch (transducer) it has three wires. Check under the dash by the glove box and you will see a round platick lid on the case with two wires that is your thermostat (thermo sensor).

The A/C clutch is controlled by the A/C cycling switch (19E561) and the A/C pressure cut-off switch, which are connected in series. The A/C cycling switch is mounted on the suction accumulator/drier (19C836), and the A/C pressure cut-off switch is mounted in the discharge line at the A/C condenser.

The A/C cycling switch closes when the pressure on the low side of the system reaches approximately 276-324 kPa (40-47 psi). The A/C cycling switch opens when the pressure drops to approximately 163-175 kPa (23.5-25.5 psi), disengaging the A/C clutch. In ambient temperatures below -1° C (30° F), the A/C cycling switch will not allow compressor operation because of low system pressures.

The A/C pressure cut-off switch is used to interrupt A/C clutch operation in the event of high system discharge pressures. The A/C pressure cut-off switch is a single-function switch that controls A/C clutch engagement. When compressor head pressures rise to approximately 2896 kPa (420 psi), the contacts open, disengaging the A/C clutch. When the pressures drop to approximately 1724 kPa (250 psi), the contacts close to allow A/C clutch operation.

This problem can be caused by low refrigerant charge. Check with a manifold gauge set and temperature pressure chart.
The cycling switch is replaceable and there is a Schrader valve on the accumulator port so you do not lose your system charge when replacing. It screws on/off. It is available at any auto parts store. It protects the compressor from low pressure which can be caused by a loss of refrigerant and subsequent lack of lubrication and prevents evaporator freeze up. Replace the switch. It is about $10. The high presure switch is about $25.

A/C compressor turns on and off even though A/C is switched off


Hello akaobaer...Sounds like you have a pressure switch defective or the system charge (freon) is low...The a/c clutch relay is operated by the Powertrain Control Module. However there are inputs from the low pressure switch (located on the accumulator) and a high pressure cut out switch (located on the discharge line near the compressor) that control whether or not the PCM turns on the clutch relay as well.
If the refrigerant level is low, the PCM low PSI switch will cause the clutch to cycle.
The PCM turns on the relay by grounding the negative side of the relay coil...The low PSI switch should turn on (close) at approx 34 PSI.....and will turn off (open) at 20-22 PSI...May sound complicated but it's really not. Have a qualified HVAC tech. check the system for leaks before recharging it, if needed.

A/C kicking in and out.


There are 2 lines coming off the AC compressor, one is larger than the other (that is the low press line), the low pressure line is the common place that the switch is located, the other is the accumulator can, the low pressure goes to the accumulator, in any event it is always in the low pressure side, large cold line.
