My 2003 Astro van has been running fine the I got gasmonday night and as I pulled out the gas station it spit and sputtered like I got bad gas or trash in filter, then it started working fine.

Mass air flow sensor maybe drity or going bad . Ever had it replaced ? Have you replaced the air filter lately ? Video's on youtube showing how to clean mass air flow sensor , you would have to buy a can of mass air flow sensor cleaner . Also while your at it clean the throttle plate , again there are videos on youtube . How did you check fuel pump ? To do it right you would need to hook up a pressure gauge . Also check flow .Videos on youtube .Has the check engine light come on ? Also you mite try some fuel injector cleaner and or dry gas for moisture in the fuel !

ok lets start with the codes they say your getting. P??? which 1's and how many. there are few o2 sensors, are they next to the Exhaust next to the converter? MASS AIR FLOW -MAF use this, for now i am guessing, until i see the correct codes your are getting. this could be the 1 you may have below, please read it........
  • P0103
Mass Air Flow Sensor Circuit High Input
  • Possible causes
  • Faulty mass air flow sensor
    - Intake air leaks
    - Dirty mass air flow sensor
    - Dirty mass air filter
    - Mass air flow sensor harness is open or shorted
    - Mass air flow sensor circuit poor electrical connection
  • Before replacing the mass air flow sensor, try replacing the air filter and cleaning the air flow sensor with low compress air or mass air flow sensor cleaner. Reset code and drive vehicle. If the code comes back, it may be necessary to replaced the mass air flow sensor.
  • possible symptoms Engine Light ON (or Service Engine Soon Warning Light)

2003 ctdi goes into limp mode

code p0238 refers to manifold absolute pressure (MAP) sensor A TC system --high input===causes --wiring short to positive --MAP sensor---ECM
Replace the sensor (internal fault)
code p0102 refers to mass air flow (MAF) sensor /volume air flow (MAV) sensor --low input ===causes wiring short to ground ---MAF/VAF sensor
again the MAF is implicated as faulty

code po113 refers to intake air temperature (IAT) sensor--circuit malfunction===causes --wiring open circuit/short to positive --wiring short to ground --ground wire defective---IAT sensor---ECM

Now looking at all the codes the most common fault is wiring damaged so pay particular to the condition of the wiring loom --the condition of the connections --clean pins - pins not bent --water in the connections . IT is common that when disconnecting the units that the connection is pulled apart by pulling on the wires .. This check is the cheapest before any money is spent on the rest . Do not clean but replace because if cleaning does not produce a result you still do not know if you cleaned it properly or if it is faulty

Van stalls intantly- misses bad if I give it gas.. Changed intake gaskets, both o2 sensers, cleaned MAF senser, and changed fuel filter.. Codes read bank 1&2 lean.. Only thing I can think of next is...

It could be a weak pump. To check, have your fuel pressure checked to see if it is correct for your vehicle. On mpfi, pressure should be around 50 psi-check the requirement for your particular vehicle. Then look to the injectors.

many thing cause engine stall out while driving faulty mass air flow sensor. stopped up fuel filter, faulty fuel pump check fuel pump fuse and relay.faulty alternator look for lose wires on alternator or ignition coils to module.faulty PCM. best code scan vechicle first before buy new parts but first thing to do replace fuel filter see if problem still occurs.

My 96 grand cherokee studders and stalls when i come to a stop and when i hit the gas to start driving again it studders . it feels as if the fuel is not getting by

Check the fuel filter, then, if you feel like it's a problem with fuel. It sounds to me, though, like it's probably the EGR (this regulates how the leftover gas vapor gets re-introduced into the gas mix). Check the air filter while you're at it. You might also end up replacing the mass airflow sensor.

It is not an ECM/PCM problem.

2000 chevy silverado 1500 4.3 v-6, rough idle, studders and mifires during accelaration, had fuel pump replaced about 6 months ago,did all the tune up things-plugs,wires, fuel filter and what not, any help?

Try cleaning the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor diode with some throttle body cleaner. the sensor heats up and measures how much it's cooled off by the in coming air flow. if' it's dirty, it's insulated by the dirt and doesn't cool properly.this messes up the air, fuel mixture. was told by GM tech it should be cleaned every oil change.especially if you have a K&N filter or simular one that uses oil to trap the dirt in the gauze wrapping.I used a small screw driver to bend up the screen and remove it so both sides could be cleaned. this increases air flow also. being I clean it every oil change, no problems. one thing, Do Not Touch the diode with your fingers or any metal object. this could cause it to fail. if your carefull you should have no problems. my truck had the very same symtoms as yours.this cleared it right up, plus saved me a bunch of money

Can the mass air fow sensor cause hesitation when accelarating?

Yes it could be bad sometimes cleaning it works and sometimes it doesn't. You should wait for the light to come back on and get the code before you buy a MAF sensor as it is expensive. You need to replace your air filter because that is likely that the fibers came off of it. You need to use a high quality stock replacement air filter.

96 Ford Explorer is studdering (misfiring) when going up hills

I have the same exact problem that just started immediately AFTER I got a tranny service where they changed the Trans Fluid, Trans Filter, Fuel Filter. Took it back and they say nothing is wrong with it. Took it to the dealer thinking I could get some REAL answers... they just told me to replace spark plugs, wiring & coil, for $900. Only studders when quickly accelerating above 40mph. I've check other forums, they say to clean the Mass Air Flow sensor. Haven't tried it yet. This seems the easiest before replacing spark plugs. Any other suggestions anyone?? Please.....
