If you perform this service now, you will feel better that during this long trip, nothing will go wrong, however unless there is a current driveability issue, it does not HAVE to be done.

How many miles for a tune up 2005 chevy trailblazer

Most of the car dealers recommend to perform Maintenance services scheduled at 30K, 50K, 90K and so on.
At 30K they mostly inspect all the systems, and replace fuel filter.
At 60K they inspect systems and flush must of the fluids, transmission oil and filter, coolant, brake fluid, differential and transfer case fluid, and replace the air filter. Some replace the spark plus at 60K some at 100K.
At 90K all timing belts are replaced, and the status of the timing chain checked. A deviation of more than 5 degree means, there it is the time ayes on the timing chain.
At the Owners manual for 2005 Chevrolet Trailblazer recommend:
Inspect all the systems at 25K, and replace fuel filter.
Replace engine air cleaner filter, automatic transmission fluid, automatic transfer case fluid every 50K.
Replace spark plugs every 100K.
Maintenance Services for your car are scheduled at 25K, 50K, 75K,100K and so on. All are tune ups but they are not the same.
The only concern for GM is the GM Dex-Cool antifreeze. There are some complaints regarding this product. I recommend to flush the cooling system every 50K to 60K.

Does it require tune up

Regular Maintenance is vital to keeping your car on the road. The time and effort you put into keeping up with scheduled maintenance can save you big money in the long run.
Dealer 30k, 60k or 90k mile tune-ups can run from $250 for 3-4 hours of labor and basic maintenance, to over $1,000 at places with high labor costs and additional maintenance services, such as timing belt replacement.
If the mechanic identifies needed repairs, this can add a significant amount to your total.
At 90K repair shops normally replace the timing belt, or timing chain.
Your car require a tune up, if you have more than 30K on it. What kind of tune up your car needs depend on how many miles do you have on your car.

On the 2004 Element. Do you have to change the timing belt at a particular time ; or does it have a Chain?

Honda element has a Timing Chain, and Honda doesn't even recommending looking at it till something like 110,000 or 120,000 miles.
However, it is this an "interference" engine, meaning that if the chain or belt fails it could destroy the valve train and even the pistons.
Because it is an interference engine. I plan to change my chain at 100K, since I expect the car to go at least 200K but don't expect the chain to last that long.
Normally cars has Tune ups scheduled at 30K, 60, and 90K. As the rule of the thumb at 90K Tune up mechanic shops recommend timing Belt or Chain to be replaced. We can go for longer taking the risk.

1997 buick century 84500 miles regular maintanance, oil change every 3000 miles. son taking trip in it. never had radiator flushed, plugs changed, transmission fluid changed, should i have concerns on...

Yes, this is very important maintenance procedures. Transmission should be serviced (filter, oil, and oil pan gasket replaced) @ 60K miles, plugs at 100K miles (I'd replace them early for better gas mileage), and radiator flushed @ 60K miles. Hopefully this helps!!

When to change timing belt on 2004 honda civic

Honda reccomends timing belt change at 100k. Most Honda dealers like you to change the belt at 90,000 miles (90k). some auto repair places will want to change the belt at 60k but that is not necessary (Note: if in a severe cold or hot climate like florida or canada you would change the belt before 90k or if the belt is over 7 years old.. Good luck:

When on a long trip the tranny shifts hard after driving for a while the next day its fine

being a GM 2000 model, Im sure its has many miles, correct me if im wrong. Take it to a GM facility and have the transmission flush and filter change, Older high miles car on domestic car is a common problems. If you have close or 100k miles, have those thing done ASAP. It will solve some of your problems and will give you tranny a bit longer life.dirty or clog tranny filter can cause the problems and shorten the life of the transmission. being a 2000 model, tranny filter should be change every 50k miles. Only newer model have 100k miles maintenance free transmission. hope that help some
