Question about Ford F

OK - I have been trying to help my Dad fix his 1929 AA ford Truck. It has always started without any trouble in the past - went out to start it on the 4th and it wouldn't start. There is no spark in any of the spark plugs or distrubutor. He put in all new spark plugs, new points, new coil still no spark. Also checked the timing. Gets power to both sides of coil with ingnition turned on. Did not replace the condesor. Any ideas out there??

Check for power to the points and the gap is correct ,with distributor off use the starting handle to turn engine over untill the heel of the points hit on a high spot on the distributor cam ,make sure the heel has a spot of grease on it as well as a drip of oil under the rotor arm for the auto ****** advance movement,now with the heel of the points on the lift of the cam gap the points if you dont know the gap`then 15th will work ,also make sure that the points faces are clean and havent been sprayed with wd40 as this will stop the points from working .do this and iam sure it will start then he can do the summer classic vehicle shows and the best of british to him ,i love taking my jag to shows for a good chin wag .any more problems dont hesitate just get back to me ,even rod brakes and whitemetaling the big end bearings as i studied all this at college ,showing my age i guess

    i woke up and suddenly realised that i forget to tell you to check the wire to the points as some types of points like lucas have to have the wires fitted to the spring arm inbetween the insulation and not just under the nut ,to be truthful i have never seen one of these engines so i wouldnt have product knowledge as such but at the end of the day its an engine ,and iam old enough to remember vehicles with rod brakes and crossply tyres

More likely electrical and not the fuel, hv yr electrics chkd. Could be air getting into the fuel line rechk the joins and line for leaks. cheers

I have a 2001 ford f 150 the anti theft is giving me trouble i try to start and it shuts right off if you place the key in the on position for about 30 sec all gauges power up then the truck will start and...

If the engine starts and runs, it is not the PATS holding things up. PATS is only prior to starting the engine, with the start enable parameter from the cluster. Once this is past, it is not longer involved in the process ( you can use a remote start with a correctly configured PATS bypass module, with a normal straight key to turn the truck to the on position.

Do you have an after market VSS installed ?

My 88 f 150 wont start

try turning the wheel side to side..sometimes the steering column locks and holds your key hostage..

I love old much better than the new **** they make..Don't throw this truck out..just hotwire it and don't waste your time fixing it..If you help with anything on it go here for the chiltons manual for that truck.

I have a great book on the f-150 if your into them. It's just about their history nothing on how to fix it..

i think you have a fuel pressure problem on your fuel rail get them to do a fuel pressure check most ford dealers can not do this so find yourself reputable diesel specailist

Overdrive light flashing is a warning to alert the driver there is a problem with the transmission . DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored in the transmission control module . Have it check !

hello im sorry to here that i read what you replaced but i dont see anything about a bad starter solenoid wich is mounted on your inside wall off your pass fender ford solenoids have a mind of there own on the solenoid you will see your ignition wire connection marked i pull it off slowly to feel if it is to loose if it is lightly close slightly with pliers so you get a tighter fit if you havnt replaced the solenoid i would clean all contacts to it including were it mounts for a good ground goodluck

hi there this seems that you have some bad teeth on the flywheel the flywheel attaches to your motor and transmission the starter motor rotates and spinns over the motor to start if the teeth are gone in certain areas on the flywheel then the motor wont spin you need to remove the transmission and replace the flywheel ,once replaced then make shure the teeth on the starter motor are new not cammed over as you mentioned was the isue earlier hop this helps let me know ho this works with a vote of fixya thanks for using sutch a helpful website like fixya

7.3 liter diesal won't start.

if it is common rail injection sounds like an injector failiure. If you can tow it in gear and it starts, it's overfuelling.
