Question about 2004 Chevrolet Suburban

1 Answer

My 2004 suburban has been having trouble starting, after changing the fuel pump and filter i figured that would solve it. but, coincidentally it didn't work still, it starts up, barely, and then putters to dead. the fuel line is fine because i checked the pressure and it was getting fuel to the engine, so whats the deal??

Either its a fuel problem or a crank sensor ,ask a local mechanic to have a look for you as i can tell you what to change but you could spend a fortune on parts and its something simple ,modern vehicles are not like the oldtimers and are extremely complicated and just changing parts is not the soloution

Would a fuel pressure regulator for a 2004 Mazda 3 make it not start?

I would have to say no it shouldn't keep it from starting .Running really bad yes .
If your sure you are getting a good spark ever a weak spark it should start .
I would check all fuel filters first .you should have a main filter in the fuel line between the pump and the engine likely under the vehicle in the main line .
Find out from the dealer or a manual how much fuel the fuel pump is supposed to deliver liters per min or gal. remove the front line hold a plastic bottle over the filter turn the key to run not start see how much fuel you get in 30 seconds .Then double it to figure out how much fuel is past the filter .We know the pump is good .
This will tell you a lot and won't cost anything but your time .

Gm diesel 6 5

pump pressure is too low
should be around the 22,000 psi mark needed to crack the injectors
indicates that the there is a fuel supply problem to the pump or pressure regulation from the pump

Engine turn over but want start like out of fuel

You'll have to figure out if it is a fuel or ignition problem.
Is the check engine light on ? Have you checked for trouble codes ?
Have you checked the fuel pressure yet ?
It could be a relay, the ignition module, coil, fuel filter, or a list of other things.

I have a 1997 GMC Suburban. It is shaking and jerking when idling and also during normal driving. I changed fuel filter, spark plugs, wires, distributor, and air filter. Still have the same response. No...

Have you figured out the problem??? My suburban is still doing the same thing after I replaced the same parts, plus more! I'm about to replace the fuel pump. Here goes nothing...

Trouble keeping car running after changing battery

First, take the vehicle to autozone, or advanced auto parts, to have your codes read for free. This will point you into the area you need to start testing. Next id perform a few simple tests for the charging system. Start the vehicle with as normal, disconnect the positive terminal, if the engine dies the suspect component is the alternator. Step two, if the previous test passes, reconnect the positive terminal and disconnect the negative terminal, if the engine dies you may have a loose engine block to chasis ground. If it passes the basic electrical checks, it could be a number of things, clogging fuel filter, bad injectors, injector fuses, a failing fuel pump, dirty pickups for the ignition system, etc, etc.

2004 suburban having trouble starting. when the key is turned it turns over but doesn't fire up. will start on the second try

Try just turning the key on without cranking it for about 15 seconds, then crank it over...If it starts, likely the anti drainback valve in the pump is bad. At that point, you can change the pump or just live with it till you can afford to spend the time and $ to do the job.

Vehicle dies

Sounds like a possible fuel pump problem...When they begin to go bad they will overheat and lock up, then work fine for a while and do the same thing again. By changing the filter you lowered the flow resistance and allowed the pump to work a bit easier but still being bad, it did the same thing again. There are other things that can do this as well, but pump is most common.
