Some of the parts stores sell a kit that has multiple steps to doing it. It's time consuming but it works pretty good.

Are the lenses clear or are they yellowed? They make kits to clean the lenses (headlight covers) Compare your headlights to a new car - you should see the difference.

Need to buy new headlights, headlights are very dull cant clean them and affecting vision

First solution and HF correct if you live in USA.
However plain old cutting compound and elbow grease also works well after a bit of 1500 grit sandpaper (if plastic lense cover) like Diahatsu.
If really sun-yellowed sometimes toothpaste works too.

I would like to replace the headlights in my pt cruiser because of the old yellow fadeing. What do i look to buy headlights or headlight covers only, i am confused on what to order... please help

the old yellow fading and kinda fogging look is from the sun if you want to try a quick fix try using a polish like mother's power ball i found that if you buy a polish u can restore them to almost new. if you dont want to try that ten what you need when you look for knew one's is the year make and model most body shops will be able to order them and same goes with the parts store's in your area.

I have dirty headlight covers and want to remove them to see if they can be cleaned. I have a 2001 Impala

Novus products worked for me. There are three strengths. No. 1 is a general
spray cleaner. No. 2 is a fine scratch remover that requires some elbow grease.
I find rinsing it as I work it in helps speed up the process. The yellowing and
small scratches are caused by ozone and sand blowing in the air. This product
won't make it factory new but it will give a much better cleaning than any other
product I've found. I've saved many friend's the expense of changing their
headlights.
Don't use windex or dishsoap on headlight plastic. They have ammonia in them
and causes microsopic pitting and fractures in clear plastic.
I bought my Novus products on line, saved gas running around trying to find it.

There are a number of products that will help. They involve grit polishes and buffing pads. One made by Mother's works for me. Your local auto parts store can help you.

1992 has poor headlights how do I fix that

its an easy fix. get some 600 grit wet/dry sandpaper and some 800 grit wet/dry sandpaper some 1000 grit wet/dry sandpaper and a can of clear spray enamel.
in a circular motion. use the 600 grit paper with water and rub the plastic lens until its no longer yellowish.(takes a little while) then after switch to the 800 grit, same thing-wet and in circles...repeat with 1000 grit. Clean and dry
lights should be milky but clearish milky(no more yellow)
Now tape and cover all areas of the light or take the lens OFF the car which-ever is easier for you. then lightly spray the clear enamel on the lens. I'll bet you'll say "Wow, looks new !" What happens is that they use a clear protective enamel on the plastic. However the plastic tends to yellow with age....you are removing that aged layer and applying a new one. I hope this helps. and i hope you no longer need to replace the bulb since it will be MUCH more bright. If the lights are still too weak, look into a possible battery or alternator issue.(not enough voltage to make the headlights shine the way they should.)

How do I change the passenger headlight bulb on my 2002 Audi A6?

Here you will see the left headlight we are going to take out, but the same procedure can be applied also to the right one (click will open a bigger photo in a new window)
audi1small.jpg

First, remove the cover circled in green (just take it, it is not fixed with screws), then, with a Torx screwdriver, remove the two screws circled in red
audi2small.jpg

Cover removed
audi3small.jpg

Under (yes, almost hidden) the cables circled in red and yellow there are two more Torx screws, you don't need to unscrew them all, only make 2 or 3 rounds
audi4small.jpg

Particular of the screws under the circles in the previous photo (sorry for the bad focus)

Last, we have to remove the power connector. To remove it, pull the little plastic block lever circled in green and then, while holding it, pull out the whole connector (in red). After that the headlight is free, and you can take it out from the chassis
audi7small.jpg

Et voila', headlight removed :) Red circles are for the vertical offset control, don't touch them unless you know what you're doing. Lights are located under the black plastic covers
