You need to drain this off. You can do this a number of ways. The fastest is to crack the seal on the transmission pan. A less messy way is to use a long piece of tubing, like you see in aquariums, and a large surenge. The Tubing you can get from the pet Isle at walmart and the surenge is usually in the automotive section near the gas cans.

Buy a cheap suction pump and pump out the excess fluid fluid through the dipstick tube, u can also undo the trans cooler line at the radiator and start the car and pump it out that way

Can a transmission malfunction if overfilled with transmission fluid?

How Does Overfilling Cause Problems? If you overfill the transmission, you will find that the fluid may foam, and that can lead to erratic gear shifting. Other problems can include transmission damage and oil starvation.

My Buick lasbre 2002 is showing over fill on transmission fluid. What could cause this and what will fix problem?

check manually that there is an overfill, if so drain some oil/transmission fluid.
I would just leave it alone to be honest....if there is excessive wear on the trtans the extra fluid may protect it.
If in doubt check with a local transmission specialist

Where do i put the gearbox oil on the chev lumina ss 2008

If it's a manual transmission then there should be a check plug on the side of the transmission. It should have a 4 sided plug you can remove with eather a 15 or 16 mm open-end wrench or an adjustable (crescent) wrench. Don't overfill, but keep it within 1 inch of the bottom of the check plug hole. Carefully use an allen wrench to check. If the vehicle has an automatic transmission and it has a transmission dipstick, then you can fill it through the dipstick tube but again do not overfill. Drive after filling and with the oil warm ensure the oil level is within the warm/hot cross hatches on the dipstick. Do not overfill. If there is no transmission dipstick on the automatic, then take it to your dealership to fill.

I have a 1998 626 Mazda transmission fluid overfilled

It could, because as the fluid get warm it expands. As it expands it might not flow thru the system as it was designed too. You might check your motor mounts also. I had a mini van that i thought the transmission was shot. It would **** and bounce. After getting under it I found 2 of its motor mounts were broke. When I fixed the mounts the jerking and bouncing went away.

Need help, I cant seem to locate the dip stick & the topping section for the transmission

Your transmission is not equipped with a dipstick. (At least, there is a good reason you can't find it, Huh? You really aren't blind after all...LOL!)

To check your transmission fluid level, follow this procedure:

1. Ensure that the vehicle is level, with engine running at idle and parking brake applied. The fluid temperature should be cold. (after sitting for several hours) Move the selector level through all the gear positions and end in PARK.

2. Let the engine idle for three minutes and open the OVERFILL screw on the bottom of the transmission pan. The transmission is filled through the OVERFILL screw hole. The fluid will seek the correct level and will flow out of the OVERFILL screw hole. (See picture)

P.S. take a drain pan with you under the will need it.

Transmission cap? To add fluid? If that is what you mean, there is no cap and filler tube. You use an automatic transmission fluid funnel (long and thin) and refill the fluid through the transmission's dipstick tube. Pour the fluid in slowly and check level often to avoid overfilling. Use the correct ATF specified by GM and DO NOT overfill your transmission. I hope this helps.

Need to add tranny fluid to '99 Rodeo, but where??

Overfilling will cause foaming, loss of fluid, abnormal shifting and possible damage to the transmission.
1. Park the vehicle on level ground and apply the parking brake firmly.
2. Check fluid level with engine running at idle.
NOTE: Be sure that transmission fluid temperature is below 30degrees C (86degreesF).
3. Move the selector lever through all gear ranges.
4. Move the selector lever to “Park”.
5. Let engine idle for 3 minutes and open the overfill screw (1).
6. Add released transmission fluid until it flows out over the overfill screw opening.
7. Let engine idle until a fluid temperature between 32C (90F) and 57C (135F) is reached, then close the overfill screw (1).
Torque: 38 Nm (3.9 kg·m/28 lb ft)
NOTE: To prevent fluid leaks, the overfill screw and oil drain screws gasket must be replaced each time these screws are removed.

CAUTION: Do not open overfill screw with engine stopped.
Immediately after driving at sustained highway speeds.
In heavy city traffic during hot weather.
If vehicle is towing a trailer.
If the vehicle has been operated under these conditions, shut the engine off and allow the vehicle to “cool” for thirty (30) minutes. After the cool down period, restart the vehicle and continue from step 2 above.
