The throttle body needs to be cleaned, grime in this area prevents the throttle plate from closing completely and allowing air to enter, making the air/fuel mixture lean.

Why does turning on the A/C kill the engine?

Not sure how you put a battery in your AC, first time I've ever heard of a car AC having a battery.
Your AC may need "recharging", but that has nothing to do with a battery. A/C systems are filled with a liquid/gas "freon". When it leaks out, the A/C stops working, and can put a heavier load on the engine. Perhaps it was over filled? That could make the compressor very hard for the engine to turn.

try checking the alternator might not be really recharging battery. if you're driving on just battery, any elect. use can kill car.

WHEN THE AIR CONDITIONER OR DEFROST IS TURNED ON, MY ENGINE KILLS.

Inspect the air conditioning compressor for being siezed up. Not the clutch on the front, but the actual compressor. I suspect it is the problem.

1991 honda accord lx cooling fan

Some vehicles have sensors that can control the electric fan with the ignition off to keep the heat buildup that naturally occurs right after turning off the engine. This can prevent hard starting that can happen with a hot engine. If it is doing this an abnormal amount, the sensor that is operable with the ignition off may be failing. Before turning off the ignition, check to see if the engine temperature is pushing the 'red zone;' if it is, then the fan operation may be normal but your engine may be running hot.

2000 Ford F150--My defrost drains power from engine!

your a/c is going to run on defrost that is normal. but the if the noise is coming from the comp then you have bearings or clutch going out on your compress. if you want to delete the comp buy a belt for your truck with out a/c and see if you can make it fit sometimes you can do this.

Turning on the ac kills my engine

Sounds like the clutch in the ac compressor is bad. Locking up and putting strain on the motor enough to bog it down and kill it.

A/C Defroster

Easier than finding compressor.  Find the A/c pressure switch and disconnect.  This will be a two or three prong switch on an A/C line running towards the interior of the vehicle, typically on the passenger side of the engine compartment

this sounds like the a/c compressor is locking up trying to stall engine. run the car with heater off, then turn on a/c or windshield defrost. if engine stalls (or almost) suspect faulty a/c compressor
