Hello oreo
If it's a 5.2L eng 5.0qt (4.7L)
The 4.0 takes 6qt (5.7L)
Hope this helps.
4.0L 6 cylinders takes 6 qts.
5.2L 8 cylinders takes 5 qts.
Just a heads up, if purchasing the 5qt jug plus a 1 qt jug, please note that the 5qt jug is actually 5.28 qts. You don't want to overfill, so make sure you check your oil after your successful oil change!

auto zone or the dealer ship could tell you, start off with 4 quarts, and then go to 5 or 6 if needed just check the dipstick every time after 4 quarts. it should hold 5 to 6 quarts

If it is just a bit above the high mark on the dipstick then no it should'nt. If you have a turbo fitted then it's best to drain out the extra as the engine oil return pipe from the turbo empties into the sump. If the sump is over filled then the oil cannot get back to the sump it then builds up back the pipe and as the oil has to go somewhere if it cannot get to the sump it will be forced through the seals in the turbo it is then sucked into the intake. If this happen's then a recon. turbo at the least and if a lot of oil is sucked into the cylinders it can't be burned off so will seize the engine.
