Question about Dodge Caravan

1 Answer

I have a 1996 Dodge Caravan SE and during the summer with high temps and humidity, the van, after going at highway speeds for at least 20 minutes, stalls when you exit the highway slowing down. This only happends dueing that time. It never happens during the other 3 seasons and does not occur during short trips. Any idea what could be causing this? Thanks!

The engine temp, as per the temp gage, is less than the halfway point.

    Hope this helps!

Alright, as a first course of action I suggest that you replace the automatic transmission fluid. The fluid may be burnt causing the car to stall or run sluggish. Excessive heat may cause it to malfunction, a new fluid will help.

Ok. As a little history, this has hapened for the past 3 years and I have the trans oil changed every year. This did not wind up correcting the problem.

Hope this insight adds a bt more info.

What is an MAF sensor on 3.3 L chrysler engine?

If the MAF sensor is faulty it should be setting a trouble code in the computer.
The sensor measures air volume coming into the intake manifold from the air filter.
A faulty MAF sensor could kill the engine - it sends a signal or data to the computer - you would need a scanner to "watch" the data stream while on the road.

Hi and welcome to FixYa!

Yes it's the tranny but nothing fatal on this. I strongly suggest that you replace the transmission fluid. If the fluid is burnt hard shifting is expected specially on warm temp. Have a fluid change and you'll be good.

Hope you find this information helpful enough and thank you for using FixYa! Have a good one!

I own 2007 dodge caravan . After traveling on the highway there is a terrible wining sound . It sounds worse in the inside than outside. If I stop for a few minutes the sound is gone until I get moving...

Could be front wheel bearings .If so it should make the noise more pronounced at high speeds but still audible at lower speeds. More specific the outer axle bearing in front hubs.

When the van warms up the RPM's are high. Won't go

Adjust your timing and plug the thing in to check for fault codes.
