Fuel gage not working - GMC Jimmy 2000 - GM says there are no recalls

most likely sender, common GM problem, check for recalls or TSBs...GM has covered many under warr or assist repair cost

Fuel pump relay or fuel pump,or ignition switch

Common problem, it can be a ground wire (not any ive seen) the float assy can be bought through your local gm dealer instead of buying the whole pump assy.

this started happening a year or so before my fuel pump whent in my 01 blazer, the fuel pump and the sending unit for the gage are an all in one pice unit that sit's right in the tank

Its most likely the sending unit in the fuel tank is not working properly and needs replaced.

bad fuel pump ,go to advance parts house buy bosch brand ,has lifetime warranty,comes with pigtail ,gm pump is 1 year. to verify pump is bad beat on bottom of tank with rubber hammer an pump should run.

Does it sound like a loud winding sound coming from the front right side? I have a 2001 Jimmy and the 4wd tries to engage when driving up steep hills and going at highway speeds. The actuator vacuum switch engaged when the transfer case vacuum switch sends the vacuumed air to the actuator. What is happening is their is either a leak in the vacuum lines, a faulty actuator switch, or a faulty transfer case vacuum switch. When the jimmy has enough air pulling in, the extra vacuum is trying to push the actuator switch in when it is not supposed to. It is a much cheaper fix than a transmission. GMC should have recalled the whole 4wd system on any of the S10's, the JImmy's, and Blazers.
