Locked rear wheel

Washed the car last week and cleaned the tires and wheel covers and ever since the right rear brake is locked. Not sure if it's the emergency or pedal that's got it locked. The car is immovable. Any thoughts on clearing this issue?

You may have thrown a brake shoe, remove the tire, pop off the grease cap and remove the nylon nut. Then remove the brake drum, the wheel hub will come off with the brake drum. If brake shoes seems to be fine, check the wheel hub bearing. I can't recall, but I think it takes a 32mm socket to remove the nylon hub nut. You will need to replace the hub nut with a new one when you reassemble, good luck, Gary

Hi! Just a thought on this and may be the problem... The brake light switch is grounded or stuck thats for sure. Since the car wont move, its gotta be a battery failure. Try recharging the battery and see how it goes. Lets consider the battery first before going to the technicality repairs. Hope this helps and have a good one!

Rear passenger wheel locked up 94 z71 not the brakes

So, you're saying when you jacked the car up the wheel was locked up. Then, you took the wheel off and what was left (the brake drum) was not locked up?
Is the wheel where it's supposed to be? Is the suspension bunged forward or backward causing the tire to rub something?

Doesn't make much sense...

Jeep front wheels are locked like it is stuck in 4x4 accept it won't move when put in gear. Rear wheels will load up but front tires will not turn when in 4wd or 2wd

Most likely your front brakes are locked on. You need to try and force the brake pads apart and remove the pads and clean up the discs.

How can i unlock abs on my 2001 dodge grande caravan which has locked my right rear wheel

Drum or disk rear brakes? Have you checked the brakes to see if they a o.k.? Is the ebrake stuck and holding the brake on? The abs will not keep a wheel from turning. Since ABS stands for ANTI-LOCK Brake System it would not make sense for the system to "lock" up the brakes since it is designed to keep the brakes from locking up. Your problem is mechanical or hydraulic. A quick inspection of the brake components should reveal the problem.

The rear passenger wheel is locked up

hi this sounds like you might have rear brake drum internal problems, does the parking brake work ok? what might of happened is that one of the brake shoes inside the drum/disk might have thrown its covering and has gone around inside the drum and locked the wheel up like the parking brake is on there really isn't anything else to go wrong that would cause that, you will need to remove the rear disk/drum if you can, as it could really be any internal part broken like a spring or the self adjuster...hope this helps please vote

My 2005 dodge neon made a clunk noise and then the passenger rear tire locked up. Up until this point it drove fine. Help!

Your problem would appear to be something amiss in the rear brake on the locked wheel. If a wheel sylinder was leaking the brake shoes would become "sticky" and cause the shoes to "lock on" to the drum. Or if the brake was out of adjustment, the assembly could come apart and pieces of it jamb the wheel. This problem is fairly common with drum brakes. You need to have the rear brakes serviced, & checked for fluid or grease on the braking surfaces. All leaks fixed, backing plates cleaned, the wheel cylinders overhauled, & the brake shoes replaced.

2005 Hyundai Accent has the right rear wheel locked up. All other wheels appear to rotate properly on movement of the car but the right rear does not move at all. This condition was noted on start-up...

The first thing I would inspect is the brake Caliper. It may be locked down. If this is the case you may have to have it towed to have it serviced, unless you can replace it your self. It is really not that difficult, if you want to try it yourself e-mail me at and i will be glad to send you some diagrams and instructions
