My transmission is clunking and grinding when I shift from park to reverse to drive

Does engage and drive normally? Because they only grind when you don't stop completely, gear grind. It is different to normal trans clutch plates engaging while you're riding on the brakes while shifting, they do make the 'clunk' - engaged - and then as you release the brake it grinds 'er er er er'.
So unless your trans doesn't drive normally, I'd say it's normal.

How do you bleed the hydraulic clutch on a 1988 944

you need to find the clutch slave cylinder ,make sure the clutch reservoir is full, get somebody to push the clutch pedal in & hold it in while you undo the bleed nipple of the slave cylinder to let any air out ,then tighten it up while the clutch pedal is still pushed down, then release the clutch pedal, keep doing this until only fluid is coming out & no air is in the line.....hope this helps.....cheers

What does it mean when my transmission clunks or is hard to get into when I put it into reverse? It is a manual transmission.

The clutch may need to be adjusted or replaced, as it sounds like it is not completely releasing. That can also cause the "Clunk" as everything tightens up when trying to find a gear. Although, the clunk is most likely caused by a worn U-Joint. Try to adjust the clutch first.

Shifts hard like a clunk. i think it a adjustmant

If it's a manual transmission your clutch is probably out of adjustment and not releasing fully. You risk damaging your synchros if you keep driving this way.

Porsche 944 Turbo won't go into gear when motor is running.

Hi mate. I'm no Porsche expert but the most common diagnosis would be clutch failure. If you can shift (even some) gears with the engine off then this would be plausible. Before looking at the complete clutch, try the master and/or slave cylinder, it's more likely to be the master. Pop the bonnet and check the level of brake fluid in the reservoir, there is no "clutch fluid", it's just brake fluid. If it's below the minimum line, top it up then see if it engages gear. Get it checked out, but tell the mechanic your theory, he'll soon confirm it if it is.
