Air bag warning light on constantly on a c180 classic 1998.I have found there is a cable with two wires inder the front passenger seat that is not connected to anything. Could this be the reason? if so what does it connect to as I cannot see anything obvious.( where does it go) or is this just spare wiring in place for heated seats???? await your assistance thanks

The airbag light being on is an indicator that your airbag system is not working correctly either due to a bad sensor or some other fault. I assume since you mentioned the passenger side wires that this is a passenger side air bag. What ever you do, be very careful dealing with these. They are not known for being very tolerative of change or tampering and must be connected in a certain way or they will go off and could cause injury. I recommend service by a dealer on this however if you can not do that I highly recommend that you get the Haynes repair manual on this vehicle from an Auto parts store before proceeding. There usually isn't much but there are some basics concerning connecting and removing air bags and some safety steps.

Passenger air bag light on

Could be just a problem with the wiring. Once had a client complain that every time he sat on passenger seat of his car the airbag warning light came on. Turned out it was one of the wires in that seat that was too short, and because he was big and always put the seat all the way back the wiring got stretched. But the best thing to do is connect a diagnostic machine to the car.

The odometer light is out on my 2002 Ford Escape. This is a new issue. The air bag passenger side warning light comes on after 5 minutes of driving. The air bag warning light has been an ongoing issue....

The airbag light is probably an issue with the connector under your front seats. Look under the seats and you'll see the cables. Do NOT disconnect them. Just push them in tight. See if the light problem goes away. The conenctor gets off kilter when you put the head rests (from the back seat) under the front seat. Toss them in the back from now on.

BTW: You can get the computer to tell you the problem code with the air bag simply by watching the airbag lamp flash when you turn the key to 'on'. It will flash with short and long pauses. Count the flashes for each digit. For instance, 4 quick flashes, a pause, and then 3 flashes equals code 43. Then do a Google search of ford airbag code /your number here/. Odds are its the passenger side airbag connector. Do what I said above.

If you get tempted to disconent the cable, PLEASE do some google searching first. I 'think' this could cause a problem. Maybe not. But I only needed to push my connector in tighter to fix my problem.

What is the cable used for-- under drivers side seat in a 1998 Jeep Cherokee Sport?

There are 3 cables under the driver's seat.
1) 1 (single wire) goes to the illumination light of the transfer case position plastic lense panel (underside) 2) 1 (single wire) goes to the seat belt harness for the seat belt warning light 3) 1 (multi-wire) goes to air bag sensor located directly under the seat.
Your welcome :-)

Both my front windows do not work, and as a side note, when there is someone in the front passenger seat, now and then the warning light goes off for the airbag.

the air bag system runs constant diagnostic checks. It then will display a code one flash two flash and so on.Most common is the battery backup code.Check fuses under the hood for air bag.For your power windows check fuses under hood. Then check your window relay to see if its working.Swap it out for a similar one.Check fuses inside vehicle also.check wire connection for power windows.

Had the same problem, found the wire disconnected under the driver seat (there is a yellow plug and with one red wire, which is fine, and one green wire, which is broken. Fixed the wire, light went off.
