I have a 1996 Cadillac Deville current error code - PC0174

I have a 1996 Cadillac Deville and have a current error code - PC0174. I have looked it up and it is a fault in the left side engine fuel system. Have also seen that this may be a vacuum leak. Does anyone know how to fix this and what parts I might need, also how much $?

Check for a burned fusible link under the hood. If you have power at the fuel pump relay, you could have a bad ignition switch or bad oil pressure switch...accordianman

SOURCE: fuel filter replacement 1993 Cadillac Deville

hello. it should be located under your car on a line that's coming off your fuel tank and yes you can do this your self very easy to do ,you'll need a few box/open ended wrenches that's it you'll need to check the fitting or the nut on each side of the filter to see what the sizes are, befor removing the filter you'll want to take off your gas cap and remove your neg battery cable ,not when you find the filter it'll have nut on each side all you have to do it loosen them but make sure that you don't break the fuel line or kink it and after you have both sides loose then just finish turning them off and there you go the filter is off, nope no removing the gas tank some newer models you do and the filter is attached to your fuel pump and don't need replaced but for your car and year you wont need to remove the tank. good luck

1996, cadillac, deville getting codes pc0171 &pc0174,what does this mean?

Fuel trim lean, banks 1 & 2. That's a pretty strong indication that you should check the fuel pump pressure at the fuel rail, and check the fuel flow rate while you're there. There's a good chance that your fuel pump is just about ready to be replaced.

If you see good pressure & flow rate, run a couple of jugs (not at the same time) of carburetor & fuel injector cleaner through the gas tank. It's possible that all your injectors have just gotten so dirty that they can't give you a full-rich mixture.

You'd best do it fairly soon - the engine is running lean, and it can't tolerate that for any great long time without some damage.

I have a 1996 cadillac deville with codes PO741 and P1258 current. Tonight it shut down as I was driving, what could be the problem?

P0741....Torque Converter Clutch Circuit Performance or Stuck Off
P1258 Engine Coolant Overtemperature - Protection Mode Active
the first code is a generic code the latter code is a GM code and if this is correct the engine shut down because it was overheating for whatever reason or the sensor is faulty

Looking for a key for a 1996 cadillac deville i live in the bahamas

You will have to contact a cadillac dealer in the continental U.S. Give them the vin number and they should be able to give you a key code to take to your local locksmith to make you a new key. You can also have your local locksmith come out to the cars location and they can make you a key right on the spot.
