Sounds like a bad oil pan.

Look at the oil pan and determine where the oil dripps down from the cylinder heads.

This might be the problem as we had the same problem on a 1998 Ford Taurus.

Solution:

If the oil pan is leaking at a rusty spot, then get a screwdriver and enlarge the hole.
Spray with brake cleaner,

and then put a healthy dose of puddy epoxy into the small hole that you enlarged and made jagged with your screwdriver.

The leak should seal up in 5 minutes with 5 minute epoxy, but let it set for an hour.

Good luck to you.

Excessive Oil leak on 1985 Chrysler Laser 2.2L (non-turbo). My 17 year old son purchased the car with little history. Noticed a small oil leak on driveway. Replaced the valve cover gasket and leak...

A plugged pcv system will cause excessive oil leaks. But it sounds like you have a massive leak. If the passenger side is leaking behind the timing cover there may be up to four seals that may leak.single cam motor will have one cam seal dual will have two cam seals. Crank seal and possible oil pump seal. Would recommend pressure washing motor, go to local parts store and get some engine dye. Then support car and let engine get warm. And try to pinpoint leak.

Is there a product made that will stop oil leaks I'n northstar engines

Product Details: HEAVY DUTY OIL BOOSTER STOP LEAK 1 GALLON, 4-PACK OR

Gunk M2112 Engine Oil Stop Leak OR

Gold Eagle Engine Stop Leak Safely stops engine oil leaks. Compatible with all engine oils. Prevents costly IF none of these products work I would recommend cleaning off the lower half of your engine with some brakleen and checking to see how quickly it leaks. Most crankcase leaks do not leak as much as they seep. If it is seeping or has a slow leak you can clean the crankcase at oil change and you will probably not have any oil dripping from the underside of your car. If that is the case that small of a leak in my opinion doesn't warrant resealing the crankcase. If you do have a major leak and need to reseal the crankcase, you do not need to remove the engine. You do however have to remove the transmission and the cradle and hang the motor with a fixture. When resealing the crankcase, for best results use factory gasket sets and make sure all surfaces are very clean and and do not have any nicks or scratches. also use an anaerobic sealer in addition to the rubber gaskets, and make sure to properly torque all fasteners. As for everyones oil consumption complaints all Northstars will burn some oil. GM says up to 1 quart per thousand miles is acceptable. If you are using multiple quarts between oil changes you may consider performing or having the dealership perform a top engine clean. This will loosen the carbon from the top end of the motor and help free up sticking piston rings. The Northstar motor runs hot and has a tendency to pruduce a lot of carbon. In addition to this using an in tank injector cleaner will help the motor stay cleaner and burn less oil. Another common carbon problem will be in your throttle body. If you feel the accelerator pedal beginning to stick you should check the throttle plate and throttle bore for sticky carbon build up. It is easily cleaned out with some carb cleaner and a tooth brush. Hope that helps. Good luck,

On my 98 Oldmobile Cutlass I can do an oil change on my own and it's got a minor oil leak that would be more costly to fix than it is to just add a quart of oil here and there however, the oil cap will...

Okay here is the easiest way to get that cap off ,,,,,Go to the nearest parts store and get a quart of oil and ask them to come out and show you how tpoget that cap off,,you might need to get a new one.And to stop that leak,,,,,,if it is a rear main seal just betweem the motor and trans is where it would leak. Lucas stop leak for motors I used it and it works.

I have a 97 Dodge Intrepid, with no warning at all one day this loud clicking sound which seems to come from under the valve cover. After changing oil it stopped but after driving it for awhile it comes...

By what you are explaining sounds like the "Lifters" have worn out, try putting a quart of "Lucas Oil" in it,is about $10-$12 at your local auto parts store, it will help reduce the noise considerably. Good Luck.

Slow oil leakage. It leaks a quart of oil about every 2000 miles is it the seals or what else could it be?

It could be burning the oil also ... 1 quart in 2000 miles on a 20 + year old car is not unusual. You may want to use some engine treatment (STP for example) that may slow the loss.
