Question about 2005 Nissan Sentra

1 Answer

My Sentra is overheating. I changed the Thermostat before taking it to the local Autozone and have the check engine light checked out. Well I was told there after scanning the computer that it is a MISFIRE in CYLINDER 1. Any idea how to fix that?

First step is new plugs. It's possible that you have a fouled #1 plug. If that doesn't work, check spark wires (if the car is so equipped) or if it has direct coil-on-plug ignition, where each cylinder has a coil pack on top of the plug, swap the coil packs between cylinders 1 and 2. Clear the code, run the car, and rescan the computer. If the code moves to indicate cylinder 2 misfiring, then your coil pack needs to be replaced.

Double check the thermostat and make sure the water pump is doing its job. To check the thermostat, simply take it out and reassemble the housing with out the unit. Run the engine and hopefully it will get warm to hot. If not check the pump.

I have 1999 nissan sentra andit has been overheating. I replaced the thermostat and water pump and it is still overheating. What could it be?

You may want to check and see if the ECT (Engine Coolant Sensor) is faulty. It should drive the temperature gauge and if it's bad, it could be telling you that the engine is overheating when it is actually running at normal temprature.

I have a 2001 nissan sentra 1.8 with 158,000 miles. Problem started a month ago,no heat while idling but when revved up or driving would have heat. Changed thermostat, bled system from bolt above thermostat...

unfortunately these engines are known for this condition and for head gasket failure.with engine cold pressurize cooling system with spark plugs removed.look down into holes with flashlight after about ten minutes.....im betting youll see a puddle of coolant on piston...usually its cyl# 2 or 3.i cant think of any other possibility for system repeatedly airlocking other than a head gasket.good news they are probably one of the easier ones to replace.

Service Engine soon light in 2007 sentra

Take your car to a local auto parts store like Autozone or Checkers and they will download it for free. Or take it to the dealer. Depending on if it is still under warranty

2003 NISSAN SENTRA HEATER BLOWING AMBIENT AIR. JUST REPLACED THERMOSTAT AND HOSE AS IT WAS OVERHEATING, BUT NOT LEAKING. SERVICE ENGINE LIGHT JUST CAME ON LAST WEEK.

let the engine get cold, and remove the radiator cap, fill the system to proper level and re test. run engine until thermostat opens, fans come on, then alow to cool again and re check engine coolant. If this does not work, or the thermostat does not open the thermostat is instaled backwards, remove and reposition.

no reset button. Take vehicle to your local aotu parts store such as autozone ans ask them if they can run a code scanner test. This can list any and all trouble codes associated witht he light being on as well as reseting the light.

Check engine light

Head to your local Autozone Auto parts store and ask then to put their code reader on it. They will give you or at least tell you what trouble codes may have activated your check engine light. A blown buld will not activate the Check engine light

most likely a thermostat because the pressure on the a\c will be high if engine is over heating or the fans are not kicking on (check fan relay)
