Look at the flat side. Inside the plastic you'll see a metal filament. If it's intact, the fuse is likely good. If the fuse is blown, that filament will be broken and/or burned.

Have no brake lights I changed the stop switch what else should i look for fuses in cab looks good

Without knowing the kind of vehicle you have, just start with basics first. Take a test light, hook to good ground (check light works by other fuse power to light) and check each wire at the brake light switch. Should have power on one of the wires. If you don't then you need to check between fuse and that wire. If you have power at the switch, step on brake and check for power coming out onto the other wire. ( that checks to make sure switch works). If power goes thru then you need to trace that wire toward your brake lights for open or for bad ground. Check for power at the light may have bad ground keeping lights from lighting. This should get you started. This is as much info I can give without knowing more on vehicle.

Brake lights won't come on after changing brake booster on 97 gmc 1500. Also won't shift into gear.

check for a bad brake light fuse! if not the fuse, the brake light switch operates brake lights and if bad you will not be able to shift it out of park, as well as the brake lights not coming on.! because you have to put foot on brake to do so. if bad switch, it wont let it out of park. it could be just out of adjustment also!! good-day !

Both break lights went out at the same time. Think it may be the fuse #15 wondering what else it could be. And, how hard is it to change the fuse? Do I need to disconnect battery?

Check if hi mount brake light works. if so ck bulbs.if not, ck fuse/ switch If switch was bad, I dont think you could get it out of park. Dont disconnect battery.

My brake lights dont work everything else but rakes

Thanks for choosing FixYa and welcome to the site. You need to check the fuse first. It may have blown. If the fuse is good, check the bulbs. If both are good, you probably have a bad brake switch. It is located above the brake pedal. It looks like a chrome looking round cylinder. The pedal actually hits the brake switch and it activates the brake. The small button may be stuck. If not, change it and the brake lights should work.

All brake lights on my 307 have stopped working at once what could be the problem

Hi,

This is caused by one of two things.

1) Blown fuse - check the fuse box for the fuse that controls the brake circuit. Replace as necessary.

2) Bad brake switch - If the fuse is not blown this indicates a faulty brake switch on the brake pedal itself. This will need to be replaced.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Brake lights don't work

This sounds like a bad brake light switch, this switch is located on the bracket that holds brake pedal, you can test for power at switch, also if you remove connector and jump terminals with a wire and see if lights lite, if lights light then switch is bad,

All brake lights suddenly stopped working changed bulbs park light fuse and cant find any blown fuses what else can it be

brake switch on the pedal bad.bad relay. do you have a second fuse box if so check it. look at the wiring see if it is frayed or chafed check the connections.check all the fuses not just the ones labeled brakes.switch the relay with one that you know is good like turn signal and see if the turn signal works then check brakes.use a 12 volt test light check the brake switch and probe the wires. hope this helped if not write back and i'll give you more ideas.
