Hi my name of Tom and I am here to help.

If you were blessed with an ignition assembly in the dash, it is a relatively easy fix. All you need is look under the dash and take the two wires off the assembly.

Now unscrew the retainer nut from the base of the assembly. Replace with generic ignition set up you can get at any parts store.
Put it in reverse of what you did last time and you are done.

I warn you that unless you get 2 extra keys, you will be standing with your door keys and no ignition key. Guess how I know that.
Yep been there and done that.

I trust this will work for you. If you have any questions feel free to call me at 414-475-5968 or email me at

Key won;t go into ignation on my 2002 buick park ave

It is possible that the tumblers in the ignition need lubrication. I had this problem with a boat ignition. Spray a small amount of break free, or WD 40 or graphite penetrating oil into the slot and slowly work the key gently into it. A drop of oil in the slots of the key won't hurt.

1990 chevy suburban. The key was turned to auxillary and stuck

hopefully that does not have tilt steering which makes the job somewhat more difficult. the same thing happened with a van i owned. there are small arms inside the steering column that move with the key to move the ignition switch.
to confirm it is broken locate the ignition switch on the column. remove it then turn the key. if the piece that normally moves that switch doesn't... than it is broken.

first unhook the battery.

about the only way to get at it is to remove the steering wheel. there are more parts behind that that have to be removed. then you will get to what is basically and end cap. remove that and slide out the parts and install the new arm(s) mine was a 2 piece.

basically you just need to bolt it back up and reinstall the key cylinder and you are good to go. hook up the battery again and you should have a working vehicle.
the tilt springs can be held together with a c clamp. it is tricky but you will see as you attempt it.

Key will not go into ignation door will not lock

There is a small piece of metal that has to be moved out of the way on the ignition switch that sometimes gives trouble. Try carefully putting a small knife an pull this back. Try key after doing this.

Willnt start

This problem is normally caused by a faulty ignition module, which is located inside the distributor. They seem to be a weak point on Mazda 323s of this era. Open the distributor, and remove the rotor button. There is a round plastic cover over the ignition module, which must be removed. The ignition module is semi circular, and has four wires attached to it, via small screws. Take note of the location of each wire, and unscrew each one. The ignition module can be unscrewed with a phillips head screw driver, and removed. When fitting the replacement module, you must cover it with the heat sink compound that is supplied with the new module (mechanics sometimes refer to this compound as ignition module grease). Without the heat sink compound, the new module will over heat, and burn out. You should be able to replace the module in 15 minutes, it is very easy to do.

1985 saab wont start the key will not even turn

If the key won't turn it sounds like a problem with the reverse gear locking device. You'll need to remove the gearlever/ignition housing and replace or reset the 3 gears inside. If the ignition barrel is faulty you'll still need to remove the assembly to get it out.
