Question about Chevrolet Venture

1 Answer

My automatic headlights function on my 2002 Chevrolet Venture suddenly doesn't work along with the running lights being completely out (the turn signals still work. And now I get a warning tone, like when you leave your keys in the ignition when the key is turned but the engine isn't on. But it only starts "bong-bong-bonging" once I've pulled the keys from the ignition. I've checked the manual and can't find any troubleshooting help.

In the car its indicating you that there is something short. Its your head light switch or the wirings of the headlight switch that is causing the short. And that short is actually draining your car battery slowly --- slowly. So this warning light is indicating you about this fault.Get the headlight fuse, headlight switch the wires from head light. And also the dimmer switch and its connections under the dash. Get the faulty part replaced.you can also get it checked by meter or continuity tester to locate the exact faulty part. it will show exact 12 volts. If the batter is in-case low on charge the voltage may differ. If that is the case get the battery volt checked .if its less then 12 volt get the battery charged then check the connections. Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Ok, great, just so I got it straight: when I take it to the shop I ask the technician to change/fix the headlight fuse, the headlight switch and the headlight wiring under the dash? And that should fix the headlights so that they will go on at dusk automatically as well as fix the non-working running lights? Do I also ask them to check the battery power? One more question: I'm taking it back to the shop where I just had them put freon in the A/C unit (it has a slow, slow leak). While it was there, they replaced a burned out turn signal light. The headlight/running light problem happened right after that service: could the auto shop have bumped something that would have caused these new problems? Or do you think these two things are unrelated?

no not related. If they are related then problem would occur directly. As its the short circuit due to which are related if its short then it will directly happen it will not wait and work properly for some time then get short.-------------------------
And yes get the headlight switch, fuse and assembly checked and replaced.also get the dimmer switch checked etc etc.---------------
    Thanks for the appreciation.

03 chevy venture rt.front parking light&turn light don't work replace bulb&socket

The rapid flashing occurs because of the light problem. If the 20A PARK LP fuse in the underhood fuse block is OK, the front marker lamps and the park lights should turn on when you set the headlamp switch to PARK. If the 10A T/SIG fuse in the instrument panel fuse block is OK, and the ignition switch is on, moving the turn signal multi-function switch to signal a right or left turn should cause the turn signals to flash. If this doesn't happen, check for a missing ground connection to the socket you replaced and check to be sure the replacement lamp was not forced into the socket backwards (it happens).

just look for the blackened/burned pin on the rear light plastic connector and sand it down to re-establish a good electrical connection and save yourself $800 big ones on replacing the multiswitch.

It sound like you have a grounding problem, does the headlight on the left seem dimmer than the right? Check the ground wires and the light sockets for corrosion.

2005 Chevy Cobalt lights turn off

automatic headlights are controlled by a photo sensor on the dash located in front of the Instrument cluster. to test the sensor try covering it and see if the headlights come on. faulty wiring in the circuit could also cause this problem. the headlights and the radio are wired together and the "auto" function will cause the radio to get brighter when its dark out, thus the combination of problems.

Have a 2000 Venture van..at night when i start

You have a light sensor that automatically turns on your lights when it is dark enough. This is not your daytime running lights. It also turns on the dash & tail lights. This is why they do not get brighter when you turn the switch on, they are already on. If they do not seem to be bright enough, you may need to adjust the headlight aim.
