Question about 2007 Honda S2000 Convertible

1 Answer

I am doing a retrofit of s2000 year 2007 cluster into my DSM, I got almost all the stuff working, speedometer, RPM. but it seems that this cluster works on canbus network system some functions. I need to know what are the id codes stuff to move the temp gauge up and down? what is the resistence and pins on cluster to install an external temp and enable it on s2000 ap2 year 2007 cluster? How do I manage to light on\off the "alternator" light on cluster???? LETS SEE IF FIXYA GOT BALLS!

Ok, here where I am is not like that! they are more interested in mods outside the car than inside the car and in fact, this is so ridiculous that they just want money and they also want to force us to use a kind of project.

Once we got the parts, we are free to make anything.

The cluster will not work on conventional way, I mean the coolant temp gauge will not work if I straight wire.

definetey it works on f-can obd2.

    Yeah!

For sure I can confirm for you with all the capital letters that the Honda S2000 Ap2 cluster after 2006 the coolant gauge temp does not work with pwm or simple frequency like previous cluster that could be used this potatos fries fries to make the coolant works properly.

This cluster has extra functions ike "oil life", external temperature on firenheit...... after this two functions extra, there is no difference between the cluster year 2005 and 2006 , the only difference is that this 2006 uses a f-can in order to receive some data from ecu.

All the honda s2000 2006 works on canbus, even the high bean light works on can bus ..... and some other fucntions, it get the data straight from ecu and the cluster works only as a display.

It works on canbus obd2 network, it is simillar to a "adsl" internet or a simple network, the difference is that it is with Can-high and Can-Low, but this specifical mode works only on f-can single wire Pin 26 of connector B on the 2006 instrument cluster line labeled "SEFMJ".

I still could not move ahead in making a pic project to talk with
this cluster and share with dsmers but it is not so simple also, as I could not find out what code ... checksuming that moves the ledbars up and down.

The both earlier and new cluster has 19 led bar segments that based on instruction received on f-can it will decode that signal and light up the bargraph in relation to received code.

This could be 0f1 to only one segment, 0f2 to 2 segments, 0f3, 0f4, 0f5,0f6,0f7,0f8,0f9,1f0,1f1,1f2,1f3,1f4,1f5,1f6,1f 7,1f8 and 1f9 to all the segments be on state and the full gauge illuminated.

The external temperature is a straight "thermostat" sensor to some wires and it does not work on f-can network.

It may be a 10kbps link, as the only function to this is to tell the gauge segments what to light up.

The same on "MIL" warning light, it could be 0a1 to turn it off and 1a1 to light it up and high bean warning light ... also some other warning lights.

CAN YOU SEE? FRIES FRIES DOES NOT HAS TECHNICAL KNOWLEDGE TO MAKE SOMETHING SMART LIKE THIS.

I have the bottle but not sure what you are trying to do ,but i love a good bodge ,now i have no idea what pins are what but if your wiring in an external gauge for the temperature then no problem ,find the wire from the temp sender ,then find the feed wire from the temp gauge onto the connector block on the back of the cluster and run the wire to that ,so then you should have a feed to the existing gauge then the return to the sender unit ,so a multimeter is a must with battery disconnected and sender unit on engine earthed then find that wire in the connection block that would plug in on the old one ,then make a connection to the gauge so the gauge has a 12v feed in then connects to the wire that runs to the temp sender ,simple .Now the alternator light just runs to the small terminal on the alternator ,so again find the right wires and connectors then connect them so the warning light will have a 12v supply then it goes through the bulb and then to the alternator terminal .nothing complicated their just a question of finding the right wires

Sorry Dear friend and thank on same time for your help, but I am so ahead this!!!

The honda s2000 cluster after year 2006 works on can bus network, I've created two forums with information regarding this cluster.

    http://www.honda-tech.com/showthread.php...

    http://www.dsmtuners.com/forums/newbie-f...

As you can realize there on both forums my frustration in getting help, no one could give me relevant information and all I did was to move ahead uing my mind and inspiration.

The temperatura gauge in this cluster works on canbus network, I am completely sure, can bus it is a kind of technology similar to networks, it have sender and receivers, senders send data information with id code to all the network connected to it, only the receivers that has the same id are able to receive the dataframe.

    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bv2UfJKEL...

    http://www.honda-tech.com/attachment.php...

There is some videos on that website I've created..... but I never finished this cluster, all I want is to find out the conde information of all the can protocols that is used in this cluscer, so I will develop a converter able to receive the analogical signals from eclipse and send the can bus dataframe to the cluster.

I could mod the cluster inside it, but I just think it will not be that expert, I want to develop a canbus transmitter able to communicate with this s2000 2007 cluster and make the cluster fully functional, the oil life% is also based in coolant temp.

Please, read only the hondatech forum.

    Thank you very much.

the gauges that matter might use a can bus system to supply the information but the actual gauges will work if wired in the conventional way ,so just cut the printed circuit and rewire them as a conventional.Yes i have actually worked on a vehicle newer than a classic with encrypted software and all that and they are a pain in the **** nothing like a morris minor or ford anglia but i did cure a jaguar problem with this canbus system and that was a jag that kept conking out ,i took customer for a drive to observe and the first thing he done was put his mobile phone on the gearchange centre column ,bad move as it shut the car off .Also best of british with this conversion and i hope it works out and your not in spain because take it for the annual vehicle mechanical inspection and see what happens with this or any type of conversion from the original manufacture ,,,,,It would have to comply with the original certificate of homoglonation -----in other words words you would have take it all off and put the original back on

My 2000 Chevy s15 Rpm and Gas Gauge is not working

I didn't see an s15 in that model year, in my database?
If the speedometer works but the tach doesn't, I think something is wrong with instrument cluster?
GM has had a problem with fuel gage sending units. The sending units are not hard wired to instrument cluster, they send signal to pcm, the pcm sends serial data to instrument cluster, telling the cluster the gage settings.
It may be possible to use different size resistors in place of the fuel level sending unit, to see if fuel gage reacts properly to different resistors, if the gage reacts properly, then I think the problem is the fuel gage sending unit.

What fuse controls gas gauge, rpm, speedometer, oil pressure,2007 Yukon

If any portion of the gauge/cluster is operational.... it will not be a fuse. Gm has had numerous problems with cluster issues. You can try banging on the top of the dash above the cluster with the palm of your hand to see if it starts working again. If not, suspect the cluster assembly to have to be removed for repair/replacement

Need a new cluster. There may be a recall not sure but you can have cluster fixed by replaceing the step up motor in cluster.

No the problem is the cluster computer is defective, remove it from the truck and have it rebuilt by a local GM cluster repair shop, turn around is about 1 week so plan on not having use of the vehicle.

The speedometer gauge and RPM gauge is not working. The speedometer gauge goes to the max while I am driving. The car itself seems to be running ok. Help! It is a Yukon Denali 2005.

I suspect that your sender is malfunctioning. Todays speedometers and RPM is sent from a sensor/sender near the drive shaft. A magnet on the drive shaft is sensed and the revolutions are converted to RPM and speed.
