I am going out on a limb and guess that you are asking what the serpentine belt does or is.

A serpentine belt is used for the same function several or all of the V-belts. It "snakes" its way to all of the key hardware power steering pump, the alternator, the fan, etc.. Instead of 4 belts, one for each piece of equipment thou have one belt that "snakes around" and does the work of many.

Your vehicle may have a serpentine and 1 or 2 others. I drove a 1987 caravan as a company vehicle but I did not do the maintenance, so I can not be more specific.

I trust this answers your question. If I can be of further help, let me know.

How do i take of a pulley and tensioner of a 94 Dodge Caravan 3.0 L V6

You'll need a Serpentine Belt Tool and a socket set.

Rotate the Caravan's serpentine belt tensioner assembly clockwise to relieve the tension on the belt. Slip the belt off the tensioner with your free hand before rotating the tensioner back to its home position. Remove the tool.
Extract the two mounting bolts that hold the serpentine belt tensioner assembly to the Caravan's front engine cover using your socket set. Depending on your physical size and dexterity, you may find this easier to accomplish through the top of the engine well or through the passenger-side wheel well.
Pull the old serpentine belt tensioner assembly out of the Caravan's engine bay by hand. Place the new serpentine belt tensioner assembly on the Caravan's front engine cover and bolt it in using your socket set.
Rotate the new serpentine belt tensioner assembly clockwise with the serpentine belt tool and then place the belt on the pulley by hand. Rotate the new serpentine belt tensioner assembly back into place. Remove the tool and close the hood.

We need to replace the serpentine belt on our 1996 dodge caravan but the diagram has been removed.

Get the replacement belt, and then note the pulleys that have smooth finish, and note the pulleys that have the grooved finish.

Just 'thread' the serpentine belt, one pulley after another alternating between the smooth and grooved until the last remaining pulley is the tensioner pulley.

Use the breaker bar to allow the pulley to accept the belt, and you're done.

How to install serpentine belt on 1996 dodge caravan se

Good morning! I am enclosing a serpentine belt routing diagram to aid in the installation of your serpentine belt. There are 4 different engine possibilities but i have enclosed all. The serpentine belt tensioner is released by rotating in a clockwise direction as shown in the diagrams. Engine configuration will determine what tools you need but the installation is relatively easy to do. Have a great day!4c86670.gif8f5ea2e.gif68b7bf5.gif

Serpentine belt replacement

What engine do you have? The 3.3 and 3.8 engines have a single serpentine belt, and a belt tensioner, so no adjustment is needed. Did you replace the tensioner, and want to know how much to torque it? countrycurt0
