    hi Brian,

Auto Hold is a feature on Volkswagon, where the break keeps the car stopped. It's nice in city traffic, as you don't have to keep your foot on the break. I believe it works like the electronic emergency break. There is a button in the cener console which lights up when this feature is engaged.

How do i remove the emergency break cable on the rear caliper of a 2001 jaguar s type?

No, you do not have to remove the emergency break cable unless you are changing the emergency break pads. The caliper acts independent of the emergency break.

Mini cooper rear calipers pistons must be rotated as they are compressed. As you look at the face of the piston, it is rotated clockwise.

I can't get the rotors off due to the parking brake cable or clip. How do I remove that?

Hello! There isn't anything that would keep the rotor from coming off of the hub assembly other than the caliper assembly. Are you meaning to say that you're having a problem removing the caliper bracket and caliper?

1994 Jimmy - Rear brakes are dominating after brake job

You need to bleed the whole system. Once this is done it should work better. Make sure you are not low on brake fluid. If the front brakes are disk brakes and the rear are drum breaks, the front really does most of the stopping, the back jjust keeps the car from spinning or swaying. But the main stopping power is in the front breaks. They need to be bled correctly, make sure brake fluid is up and make sure emergency break is not engaged. The emergency break uses a lever and cable to activate the rear brakes. The emergency breaks don't run off brake fluid...

please give good ratings, they are very important...

On 2007 passat 2.0 i replaced rear pads and the parking brake will not engage now

the rear caliper pistons were turned to get them to go back but you could have turned them in too far and the screw that applies the parking brakes could be too far out of adjustment. try turning the piston back out untill you can just get the caliper around the brake pads and see if that helps

I have a 2000 Passat and going to have my friend replace the rotors and breaks. I am preparing to fix it but want to know what sizes are the bolts for the calipers sliding pins. If you know the Bolt s

For a wrench or for the acctual bolt size.
To remove front pads..you need 8mm allen socket to pull the caliper guide pins, then 17 or 18mm..To remove rear pads...you need 13mm socket for lock bolt on guide pins and 15mm open end wrench (thin section to hold guide pin while you remove lock bolts..I ground down a spare wrench). You DO NOT have to remove rear carriers to change rotors..just remove lock screw and angle rotor out. The B5 Passats don't have the electronic parking brake so you don't need VAG Com to change pads.
Installation tips:
Clean and regrease the guide pins with "synthetic caliper grease"
Rear lock bolts come with preapplied thread locker and "are not to be reused"..I just wire brush the threads and use some Loctite Blue on em. I smear just a little antisieze on the inside bore of the rotors and on the lock screw threads to prevent corrosion and make next rotor change ez. Torques:
Front caliper guide pins:18 ft lb
Front carrier bolts: 89 ft lb
Rear guide pin lock bolts:26 ft lb
Wheel lugs: 89 ft lb

I need to change my rear break pads and also my emergency brake will not dissengage once put on. How do i fix both?

My hyundai had the emergency brake bracket (mounted to the back of the caliper) rust solid. I used rust eater to get it to slightly break loose. I eventually had to replace both calipers. It is a very consistant problem. My new ones need alot of attention now as well I covered them in caliper paint to help with the rusting. The pads are very simple replacement 2 bolts on the back of the caliper. Remove the pads then screw back in the piston with a import tool from any auto parts store put pads back in, put back on the caliper.
