Question about 2004 Dodge Dakota

Open Question

Trouble code 463 fuel sending voltage to high, I replace the fuel pump, and still the same thing is happening. Now it included the transmission service lights.What is wrong with the truck? The fuel guage doesn't work, After running the truck for about an hour it wouldn't start back up. You have to let it sit there for about two hours- to a day for it to start back up, and the lights are not turning on inside and out of the truck.

P0533 A/C Pressure Sensor High.

It could be low on refrigerant, or it could be a bad sensor. Back-probe the pressure sensor connector (on the discharge line, near the compressor - it's a 4-way connector) on the dark blue wire with the engine running and the A/C turned to max. If you get no volts, or 5 volts, the sensor is bad. 4.5 volts indicates a properly-operating system, while less than 4.5 indicates low pressure, and anything above indicates high pressure. If low or high pressure is suspected, verify with a set of refrigerant gauges.

If warranted, the sensor can just unscrew. You won't lose refrigerant - there's a valve built in to the line to prevent that. Make sure to use a new O-ring and lube it with the proper oil if you do change the sensor.

P0463 fuel level sensor circuit high


Code 720 is for a problem with the speed sensor in the transmission. The sensor and circuit would need to be checked.
Code 463 is saying the signal from the gas tank sending unit is too high. The sending unit uses a resistor to send a signal back to the computer and the gas gauge. Again, the sending unit and the circuit would need to be checked out.

2000 chevy venture key jammed ignition replaced ignition car wont turn over. OBD-II codes U1000, P0463, P1626. How do I fix problem


Code U1000 is saying the ECM lost communication with the BCM which can happen when the key switch is turned far enough to stop the engine but not enough to turn the accessories off.
Code 463 is for fuel level sensor circuit high which is a problem with the fuel gauge or the sending unit in the tank.

Code 1626 involves the theft deterrent system.

The code 1626 could be the issue - the passkey system may not be reading the chip in your key.

DTC P0113 - Intake Air Temperature Circuit High Input.The powertrain control module (PCM) monitors the temperature of the air entering the engine. The PCM supplies a 5 volt reference voltage to the Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor. The IAT is a thermistor that varies resistance based on temperature. As the temperature increases, resistance decreases. Low temperature results in a high signal voltage. When the PCM sees a signal voltage higher than 5 volts, it sets this P0113 check engine light code.


DTC P0183 - Fuel Temperature Sensor Circuit High Voltage.


I suggest to check wire connections.

Check Engine light comes on and gives a 463 code


This ultimatly will be a problem with your fuel pump. The actual code references the fuel sending unit voltage.. I suspect that your fuel gauge is not operating properly either. The fault is likely with the fuel level sending unit, but on most modern cars its built into the fuel pump.

What is needed for complete tune up?


  • Replace spark plugs

  • Replace rotor

  • Check distributor cap (replace if necessary)

  • Check timing (adjust if necessary)

  • Check ignition wires (replace if necessary)

  • Check ignition performance (firing voltage and ignition patterns)

  • Check idle speed (adjust if necessary)

  • Check choke (carbureted engines)

  • Clean fuel injectors

  • Check compression and/or power balance (identifies bad fuel injectors as well as compression problems)

  • Check manifold intake vacuum (reveals exhaust restrictions)

Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0463 is "Fuel Level Sending Unit Volts Too High"
The fuel level sending unit voltage is monitored by the Powertrain Control Module (PCM) when the ignition switch is on and the battery voltage is more than 10.4 volts. This DTC may be stored when the fuel level sending unit voltage at the PCM is more than 9.4 volts for 2 seconds or more. The possible causes are: defective fuel level sending unit , defective connectors or wiring, or a defective PCM.

Replaced fuel pump in 1998 for ranger


Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0232 indicates that the powertrain control module (PCM) detected the FPM circuit voltage was high when the fuel pump was commanded off. The FPM circuit is wired to a pull-up voltage inside the PCM. The FPM circuit will go high if, with the key on and the fuel pump commanded off, the FPM/FP PWR circuit loses its path to ground through the fuel pump. The FPM circuit will also be high if the FPM/FP PWR circuit is shorted to power.
Possible causes:
No Start:
Inertia fuel shutoff (IFS) switch not reset or electrically open.
Open circuit between the fuel pump and FPM circuit connection to the FP PWR circuit.
Poor fuel pump ground.
Fuel pump electrically open.
Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) P0102 indicates the MAF sensor signal went below 0.39 volt (refer to Voltage to Mass Air Flow Conversion Table at beginning of this Pinpoint Test) sometime during normal engine operation (Continuous) or during Key On Engine Running (KOER) Self-Test.
