1999 vw Beetle goes dead while driving replace battery and alternator still doing it no battery light comes on

Is The battery charging when the engine is running? The voltage at the battery should be close to 14 volts DC when the engine is running at about twice the idle speed. If it is then it may be worth checking that your regulator/Rectifier has failed.

My 2000 jetta burns out its lights often and then the high beam dummy light turns on. I've replaced the sockets twice but bulbs last only about a day before the passenger side burns out again. The...

Are the bulbs ate right wattage? If they are too high they will generate enough heat to melt connectors, switches and so on. Are you touching the glass before fitting them. Headlight bulbs have to be free of contamination. It might be tbat your voltage regulator is charging at too high a voltage. This could damage much of your electronic equipment and it would also overheat the battery which could cause it to explode. Put a volt meter across the battery and rev the engine. Anything much over 14v is high but if it burns out bulbs that quickly it would be much higher. You would need to replace a defective voltage regulator.

Alternator or Voltage regulator

if you can carefully put a metal wrench on the rotating pulley of the alternator and felt a magnetism attracting the metal wrench, then your alternator is charging. if there is no magnetism, then the alternator is not charging...

another test is to measure the voltage on the small wires that went in to the alternator that says "F" for field, it should measure battery voltage...that is the voltage from the regulator..that means your regulator is working...but the altrntor is not..

without that battery voltage, then the regulator is he culprit...

pls be carefull...

hope i was able to solve ur problem..

pls rate me.. tnx, drcool..
