Does it seem to crank faster than usual? It could have a broken timing belt. Take off the distributor cap and have someone watch the rotor or mark its position. Then leaving the cap off turn the key like you are starting the car. If the rotor doesn't move your timing belt is broke. Luckily that is not an interference engine and a broken timing belt will not cause catastrophic failure. There could be a number of other causes however. Why did you change out the ignition?

Yes your brother is partially right. the code says that it is the sensor circuit. so test the sensor and the wires. Does it seem to turn over faster than usual? if so your suspicions would also be correct (timing belt).

2004 tarus is chriping with metal to metal sound

cam synchronizer(basically the distributer) sometimes goes around 80k. Ford used a bushing instead of a bearing. Rule out its not a pulley first and then have this part yanked out. Can listen with a cheap sthescope. Job is about 300.00 parts included (average).

It could very well be your starter. I assume your battery is charged and we can mark that off. A starter will usually not go out instantly. It is a process. You can get it to start sometimes by hitting the starter with a hard object. Now, when you try to start the car and it doesn't, does it make a noise or not? If you get nothing, it is probably your starter. If it turns and doesn't start, it is something else.

Heater not working and somehow draining battery power.

I'm guessing the blower motor relay is stuck on, the relay are usually in or near the fuse box. Sometime those relays can get so hot they weld the contacts together. I would suggest disconnecting the battery when you are not using the vehicle, until you can get it to a shop to get it fixed. The vehicle could very possibly start on fire so make sure you don't park it in your garage with the battery connected.
