Question about 2000 Alfa Romeo 156

Alfa 156 mis-firing

When my alfa 156, 2000 reg is sitting idle it seams to be mis-firing the car starts to rev and the engine struggles to stay going and on some times the enginr will cut out altogher

Hi i had the same prob with my 99 alfa 156. It seems that there could be a problem with the air sensor on the induction kit. If you remove the sensor and use some brake cleaner to clean it. Use gloves on dnt touch the sensor its self, and dnt use a rag or a cloth on it. Install it again after 5 or 10 mins and start the car up. It should work fine. If it does the trick check your air filter as it might be damaged and not working properly. I checked mine and found there was no filter in it at all. I found a cone filter works better for the car.

Alfa 156 overheats despite new thermostat and new radiator fixed. fan works as soon as as tem hits 90. recently coolant level keeps going down. head gasket gone? pls share experience

yea could be, let it dry out good or a couple days first. it could be a coil pack shorted out or could be plug wires not waterproof.

Hi Do you know how to reset the service period display on a 2003 Alfa 156? I service the car myself but the display constantly says it's well overdue! Thanks Ed Thom

disconnect battery leave 4 half hour then reconnect then start engine no revs leave running 4 10mins this should do the trick
