After sitting for 2 years, the gas has moisture/water and it's pretty much not gas anymore. It's like your car needs 87 octane and you are running on 80 octane, just enough to fire off but not strong enough to to keep a good idle/firing. I would drain all the gas out and use a higher octane gas for a half of tank just to clean the lines and injectors. Fill the tank up 1/2 with high octane and use a bottle of injector cleaner. This should clear up the sluggish problem. Also it's a good idea to change the oil and run an engine cleaner through. Drain a quart of oil, and pour in the engine cleaner. Let engine run for about 5 min for oil to heat up and circulate. Drain oil and change oil filter, put in new oil.

Hi my name is Tom and I can help you.

I am going to venture a guess that you had very little or at less than 1/2 a tank of gas. I will venture another guess and that is that if you take the fuel filter off it will have small particles of rust plugging part of the filter.

You may even have water in the tank, especially if the car was parked in temperate climates where the cold of winter gives way to the heat of summer.

My suggestion is to replace the fuel filter. Remove all the gas. If you have no way of doing that, then I suggest filling the tank all the way to the top and adding 2 cans of engine deicer ( methanol) to the tank. You should let the car sit for a hour and then start it up. God willing and a strong wind you should have a "new" running car.

I trust this info was of help. If I can be of further help, let me know.

Chev Cavalier has had problems with the crank position sensor, mounted on the bell housing, where it picks up the crank position. Check it with a meter to see if it is OK, else the fuel injection system could be clogged (fuel filter is the main culprit).

Having trouble with engine killing or running rough even after it's warm.

not for sure but it could be your cam sensor. if the check engine light is on then take it to a parts store and they can run a scan and give you more information

Battery light came on while driving. 2 hours later I could not start the car.

Sounds like a bad alternator. Boost vehicle and when running disconnect positive on battery, if shuts down probably alternator no good, replace.

Just cleaning a sensor will not help it, the first thing is to check for a bad injector, swap injectors with another cylinder and see if the misfire move, but first make sure the fuel preasure is good,

check/clean battery terminals, if ok check starter wires for voltage(while turning key to start) and tightening or corrosion. If all check out ok replace the starter. If you have no voltage at the starter check your relays and ignition switch. Hopefully this helps

2002 chevy suburban shutting off whil driving in extreme heat

I had the same problem with mine. I installed a fuel pressure gauge, and drove around until the problem started. The truck should be running between 48 to 56 lbs. of fuel pressure. Mine ran at idle at 42lbs. , not even high enough. Drove it for about 20 minutes, and it started to stumble. Fuel pressure dropped to 30lbs, 20 lbs - then all the way down to 2lbs. I shut it off, and it would not start back up. 30 seconds later, I turned the key and it came up to 10lbs. press. 10 more seconds 20lbs. After almost a minute, it came up to 42 lbs. started and I drove away. I replaced the fuel pump assemb. on 7/3/2008. Drove it around, and the problem is gone. Mine is a flex fuel, and the pump retails for $668.00. I did find a AC Delco pump for $221.00. I hope this helps.
