Question about 2001 Mitsubishi Eclipse
The problem started about a week ago. It will run fine for a minute but then acts like its choking like it's miss firing and It's also lost alot of horsepower and fuel millage is getting bad. about a day ago right after I started it and was driving it "chugged" hard and the "service engine soon" light came on. and I smelled a small amount of fuel in the car. It runs ok some times but mostly rough now. I did some looking around thinking it might be the fuel filter is plugging up but can't find It's location. I thought it might be the ISC (Idol speed control) but the RPM's arn't jumping around. So my question is why is it doing this? Also, where is the fuel filter? And finally, could it be a problem other than fuel issue?
A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

get your heater core checked out. the heater core is right by the blower motor and if its busted it will blow the smell into your car.

I hate to be the one to tell you this but if there is fuel, oil, water getting into your plugs than you have bad rings. the vehicle will not start because it is not getting enough compression to do so. If you love the car and would like it to run again it will cost about $1000.00 to have the rings done if not more. But since there is water than fuel getting into your plugs than it is a defenent sign that your rings are bad.

this light will come on if you have a problem with the emissions system. Take it to a place like autozone and have them scan it for codes. list the codes here and we can help you out.
